The 411 on What’s Good in Wellness From A True Expert

This Health Expert Knows the In’s and Out’s of Wellness

Expert: Dr. Howard Cohn Cohn Health Institute
Credentials: DC of the Cohn Health Institute and CPO of SevenPoint2

Q: How and when did you start in the wellness and health industry? How has it changed?

Dr. Howard Cohn: I opened my first office in 1990 in Costa Mesa. My health and wellness journey started back in New York in 1980 when I was 16 years old. I was fortunate to meet a chiropractor that was so on purpose, exuded gratitude and was so excited about what he did for a living that he said he would pay to be able to do it. I decided then, at 16, that I was going to be a chiropractor and I never looked back. Little did I know chiropractic was only the beginning. Over the last 27 years since I opened the doors of the Cohn Health Institute (formerly Health Dynamics), I say that people have been able to get better access to natural health and wellness information thanks to the Internet and social media but then again, so has the amount of mis- and dys-information as well.

Q: Did you always grow up in a family surrounded by holistic health habits?

HC: I thought that I grew up in a healthy household with my three sisters because my mom was a nurse. I just figured she knew all about health care. With Captain Crunch cereal for breakfast, a burger, fries and soda for lunch, and a Swanson’s Hungry Man TV dinner, turns out that mom was an expert in ‘disease care’ but knew nothing about ‘health care,’ let alone diet and nutrition. We all found our own way. I found the closest thing to nutrition in our home when I was little, which happened to be a bottle of Flintstones Vitamins, as told by my eldest sister, Ilene. I then proceeded to consume the whole bottle in one sitting, which sent me to the hospital to get my stomach pumped. Ilene has followed my nutrition journey and my sister Linda Cohn (ESPN Sports Anchor) as well, which she attributes a lot to her career longevity.

Q: I see you are certified in many holistic health techniques and also in Chinese medicine. Tell us about how it goes beyond chiropractic.

HC: My foundation was built on the art, science and philosophy of Chiropractic, which is based on the body’s innate ability to heal itself as long as it is allowed to function free of interference. I later went on to master the arts of Applied Kinesiology (AK), Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET) and Quantum Neurology (QN). It is these incredible healing arts that I believe have propelled me to the world stage.

Q: As the Founder of the Cohn Health Institute, tell us how your clinic has grown and what are the specialities you offer.

HC: The Cohn Health Institute (CHI), now in its 27th year in Costa Mesa, is my pride and joy. I get to practice what I love with my brilliant and beautiful wife, Dr. Christine Cohn, DC, DABCI, and a hand picked team of chiropractors, naturopaths, acupuncturists, body workers, therapists, estheticians and a loving and caring staff. CHI was built to be a ‘One Stop Doc,’ where anyone can go and get their health handled. People now travel from around the globe to visit CHI to regain their health or advance their well being.

Q: How is SevenPoint2 different from other health supplement companies?

HC: The goal with SevenPoint2 was to raise the bar in the nutrition industry. The world did not need one more nutrition company. What it needed was a simple, easy, cost-effective and palatable way that both children and adults can have organic, plant-based nutrition. Faster than a drive thru  and cheaper that your Vente Mocha at Starbucks, all SevenPoint2 products are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, corn-free, nut-free and non-GMO. There is no company that I know of that has gone to the extent to make products to this high standard and yet still make it affordable and great-tasting. Although there is more information available than ever before about how to be and eat healthy, because the life’s pace has increased and our attention span has decreased, it’s still hard to eat well and stay healthy. This is why SevenPoint2 was created. SevenPoint2 is not sold in stores. Word of mouth, the Web, social media, doctors, gyms, spas are all spreading the mission of SevenPoint2. I believe we all have a moral and ethical responsibility to spread the truth about health. The word ‘doctor’ comes from the Latin word, ‘docere,’ which means, ‘to teach.’ It is our job to teach people how to take care of themselves so that they won’t need a doctor.

Q: Integrative and comprehensive programs teach you to bring about healthy lifestyle changes in your life and the lives of your clients. What programs do you have to help others?

HC: Our most successful program is our Ultimate Health Workshop, which we have done every week at CHI for the past 27 years! Admission is always free and it’s where everyone gets to see and learn how what we do works. It’s different every week and is like no worship you’ve ever seen anywhere, guaranteed.

Q: Tell us about the Greatest Lie Ever Told?

HC: My most known work is an audio program I recorded a while back entitled, ‘The Greatest Lie Ever Told,’ not gonna tell u what it is, you’re going to have to listen to it. Don’t worry, it’s up on my website where you can hear it for free. It is the message that I believe is life-saving and that everyone must know.

There is no greater feeling than knowing that someone’s life has been made better because we had an influence on it. I am truly blessed to be able to do what I do for a living and would pay to do it! In gratitude.
