Breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day, so choose wisely! Pick one of these locations and you’re off to a good start. Make some room in your morning routine with the breakfast spot that really gets you. Moving forward, you’ll have another reason to wake up and be excited to get out of bed the next morning. Here are a few of our favorite breakfast spots in Orange County, we hope you love them. 

SOCIAL Costa Mesa

Get social during everyone’s favorite, happenin’ meal of the day. Spend your Sundays at SOCIAL for brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Grab a fork and knife and cut into their delectable Chicken & Waffles served with fried Jidori chicken oysters, cornmeal, and some sizzling Louisiana hot sauce. Or maybe you prefer your brunch sunny side up with their Breakfast BLT featuring thick bacon, market lettuces, organic tomatoes and the egg just the way you like it. For libations, sip on a Berry Good Morning mixed with Vodka, lemon and blackberries. And don’t forget about the bubbly! Try their sparkling wine with craft juice flight. Choose (wisely) between orange, pineapple, guava or grapefruit juice.

SeaSalt Wood Fire Grill

The Huntington Beach restaurant and grill announced in June their new weekend breakfast from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Their BBQ style menu has now been perfectly translated into a breakfast friendly version and what you order is exactly what you get. An iconic hip-hop lyric is the name of one of SeaSalt Wood Fire Grill’s most popular breakfast dishes. The “BIGGIE” comes with a Kings Ranch T-Bone steak, cheese eggs, and a Welch’s grape cocktail combo. In the lyrical rhymes of the late, great Notorious B.I.G.: “So we can steam on the way to the telly, go fill my belly. A T-bone steak, cheese eggs and Welch’s grape.” It comes with all of that and will of course fill your belly.

Stacks Pancake House

Stack’s Pancake House is a melting pot of food and flavors. All of their locations in Southern California include Hawaiian, Japanese, French, and American cuisine on their menu. Stacks is known for their creative french toast flavors such as their Nutella s’mores french toast and Captain Crunch peanut butter french toast.Their Captain Mac Nut french toast has King’s Hawaiian bread coated in crushed Captain Crunch cereal and macadamia nuts, then fried to perfection. Breakfast is served from open to close so you really have no excuse not to try this one.

Hummingbird House Cafe

This petite, local cafe in San Juan Capistrano has way more than just coffee—they also have a full hearty breakfast menu. This Mediterranean style cafe is a favorite for many reasons, but especially their customized omelettes. All omelets can be made to order with basically whatever is in the kitchen, but if you’re not sure where to start then go for the Mediterranean omelette. It is stuffed with bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, feta cheese, avocado, bacon, and olives with a side of potatoes. Breakfast service stops at 11:30 a.m. so make sure you get there early to try it.

Lost Bean Organic Coffee & Tea

Lost Bean has a long menu of coffees and teas, but their breakfast is definitely not to be overlooked. Because of its more health-conscious menu, all their items are “calorie friendly, ” including their popular quinoa cakes. If you’re craving pancakes, but want a more guilt-free option, the quinoa cakes are a great choice. Served with two eggs and sliced avocado, the quinoa cakes breakfast is hearty and healthy, without sacrificing flavor.

Sundried Tomato Bistro

This upscale bistro is a very popular spot in San Juan Capistrano. Their brunch menu is just as long as their regular menu but of course with the addition of bloody marys and mimosas. A must try item on their brunch menu is their Blue Crab and Bacon Hash, a twist on eggs Benedict. It offers poached eggs on top of sliced tomato and crab cakes all covered in a delicious house made hollandaise sauce served with fresh fruit and roasted potatoes. Brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and reservations are recommended.

Rooster Cafe

This casual breakfast and lunch café has American favorites with a Mexican twist. Breakfast is served at all times so you will never have to miss their amazing breakfast tacos. Regardless of popular belief, not all breakfast tacos are the same, especially not these. What makes Rooster Cafe’s breakfast tacos stand out is their fresh house-made salsa. We are in!

Haute Cakes

This is the spot for pancakes. They make them decadent. They make them simple. They have toppings! They have fillings! If you’re in the mood for pancakes, they have you covered. This is the place where you turn maple syrup into your best friend. Order the orange ricotta haute cakes topped with warm mixed berries. Yum! Sure you can order a chicken salad or a Haute House cheeseburger, but is that really why you came here?

Old Vine Cafe

With a line out the door on the weekends, it’s safe to say the food is just that good. Tell your friends who are line snobs to bite their tongue, because they don’t know what they’re in for. Lengua Omelet anyone? Bring your friends for brunch and show them just how refined your palate really is—this omelet has beef tongue in its recipe. It’s everything you’d expect to see on the breakfast menu, but refined. It’s as if these eggs went to an ivy league school. You don’t just get french toast, you have seasonal pumpkin pecan french toast at this cafe.

Pie-Not

Jai Snowdon, originally from the Gold Coast of Australia, and Ryan Lopiccolo, of Newport Beach, California brought Aussie style pies to Orange County in Costa Mesa in 2013. These delicious hand held pies are not meant to be eaten with a knife and fork, instead, pop them out of the tin and eat on the go! We love anything that makes our busy lifestyles a little easier. Especially when it doesn’t compromise the quality we’ve become accustomed to in our cuisine! They also offer fresh organic Australian coffee from Bun Coffee in addition to their charismatic hospitality at Pie-Not. If you’ve already stopped in for a visit off 17th Street then you already know what I’m talking about.

Crepe Coop

After its success in Anaheim, Crepe Coop recently flew to Tustin Union Market at The District, Crepe Coop helps you forget why you went on a diet. This way, you don’t guilt yourself every time you take a bite. Your crepe almost looks like a sundae in your hand, seducing you to consume it whole. The vibrant, colorful fillings do not disappoint. Kiwi, banana, blueberry…oh my!
