How to Wear a Little Black Dress

Guest Blogger: www.saralibby.com
I love to maximize the styling of my dresses, so I don’t have to buy a new dress for every party, even though I want to. Today, I want to share my favorite little black dress for this season by For Love and Lemons, available at Gold Dust Boutique.  And with this lovely Festival Dress, the options are infinite… You can keep it simple, or layer it up with lots of legwear. I had the opportunity to catch up with Emily, the owner of Gold Dust Boutique. Her online boutique is my one-stop shop, and carries some of my most favorite brands and labels. Below is a Q&A with Emily, explaining her business and fashion inspiration! And as always, full outfit details below! xoxo
Q: Hi Emily! What inspired you to launch an online boutique?

Ever since I can remember, it has always been a dream of mine to own a women’s clothing boutique. When it came time to start actually planning and living it out, I realized how shoppers, like myself are quickly evolving in the online community. So, I figured it would be such an awesome experience to start off with an online shop first and reach out to not just one small community of women but an international community of fashion mavens from all over the world!

Q: How long have you been a business owner?

Gold Dust Boutique launched on August 30, 2014, so not counting the year in planning prior to launch, I have officially been a business owner for almost 3 months.

Q: Do you have previous experience/background in the fashion industry?
  little black dress
Yes, I have been in the fashion industry for 6+ years now! I previously managed multi-million dollar labels in the LA fashion district and did lots of traveling representing contemporary women designer lines. Fun was had but opening Gold Dust Boutique was definitely an intrinsic next step to my journey in the industry of fashion.

Q: What are some of your favorite brands/designers?

Just to name a few, some of my favorite brands/designers are local and international labels such as Spell Byron,  Flynnskye,  Cleobella,  For Love and Lemons,  MATE the Label,  Bless’ed are the Meek and Somedays Lovin.

Q: How do you keep up with current fashion trends?

Fashion blogs are everything! I have a hand full of fashion/lifestyle bloggers, including yourself, I stay up to date with for all current fashion trends and fresh new ideas. I find this the best and the most efficient way I’m able to keep up with the ever evolving world of fashion. I also have an inspiration board I update every season that I hang up over my desk at the office. It’s my way of ‘Pinteresing’ in an old school kinda way with lots of magazine clips and photos that inspire me. This also gives me an excuse to sit and read a good old fashion magazine!

Q: How would you describe your personal style?
  little black dress
My personal style is very eclectic and also changes with my mood. I tend to go for pieces that are more staple and with lots of potential to diversify, such as oversized tees and dresses that are easily accessorized with other layers of clothing and statement jewels. I love trying new ideas and stepping outside of the box; however, I do stay true to the casual coastal style. Boho chic and contemporary are the best ways to describe my personal style.

Q: Who is your fashion icon?

Hands down, Nicole Ritchie. She has always been a huge inspiration to me through out my years in fashion.
