Here’s Why You Need to Book a Spa Staycay in San Juan Capistrano

This New San Juan Capistrano Spa Is the Ultimate Way to Unwind

There’s a few things a staycation must include: cozy beds, a refreshing pool and most importantly, a decadent spa treatment. Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano checks all of these boxes, while oozing relaxation from the moment you arrive. Their on-site spa, Spa at The Mission, recently opened and—well, let’s just say that you need to make an appointment ASAP. Whether you need some alone time, a couple’s getaway or a retreat with your girl gang, here’s why this stunning new spa is the ideal destination

Before your appointment, slip into a luscious robe and lounge in the waiting room or on the outdoor patio, where you’re able to soak in the rich history of San Juan Capistrano. The warm aesthetic of the spa is reminiscent of old Spain and takes inspiration from the iconic Mission San Juan Capistrano. Four dedicated, dimmed rooms line the walls of the hallway, ready to welcome you in for a transformative treatment.

While all of the treatments available are noteworthy, the Lavender and Olive Oil Indulgence offers a truly incredible experience. Starting off with a full-body exfoliation that utilizes sun-evaporated Pacific sea salt and organic extra virgin olive oil with blended essential oils, this prepares the body to soak in the next step, which is luxurious olive oil body balm and aromatic lavender. Olive oil symbolizes peace and tranquility, and the hotel has a 72-tree olive grove on the property, making it a fitting highlight of this service. The lavender used comes directly from Northern California from the company Ode. And in addition to the olive oil used for spa treatments, Inn at the Mission also offers olive oil tastings at its premier restaurant, Ysidora, and has produced its own olive oil, Reverence Private Label EVOO, which can be exclusively experienced and purchased on property.

Mikki Anderson, massage therapist and clinical aromatherapist at Spa at The Mission, says, “The Lavender and Olive Oil Indulgence is one of the most hydrating massages I’ve ever experienced. It’s perfect for people who tend to have dry skin.” She explains how there are no parabens in any of the products used during this massage, so you can be assured the treatment is good for your skin. Soothing sounds, warm towels and a CBD balm for sore muscles or tension (that you can choose to add on) are other highlights of this full-body massage. After the 80-minute service, the skin is left feeling as soft as can be, and your mind and body are at complete ease.

Pre- or post-appointment, guests are welcome to take advantage of the steam room and showers, which are located in the quaint locker rooms. Spa at The Mission uses their own Reverence private label olive oil in their lavender citrus hand scrub, which is a must-try! Unwind and destress in this comforting and soothing setting before ordering a light lunch, such as the cauliflower couscous salad and a tangy mimosa.

With the current Mission Rejuvenation offering, guests are able to experience an overnight stay with two 50-minute spa treatments, complimentary valet parking and a welcome amenity. Along with transformative balance and harmony massages, illuminating facials, body wraps and couples massages should also be taken advantage of at San Juan Capistrano’s newest spa.

Spa at The Mission is open to both guests and locals, so if you don’t have a full weekend to spend at the hotel, take a couple hours from your day for a change of pace and some rejuvenating self-care.
