If you’ve glanced over a tap list and have been instantly hit with anxiety over your choices, then Barrel Republic might just be your haven. If you’ve waffled back and forth trying to decide between boozy beverages, then Barrel Republic can solve your woes. If your wallet has ever restricted your beer lust, then, again, Barrel Republic is here for you. If you’ve wondered what kind of swag to wear to compliment the pint in your hand, Barrel Republic will solve your dilemma.

With over 40 tap offerings, it may seem like picking your poison could be overwhelming, but that’s where the genius of Barrel Republic’s concept comes in. Drinkers trade their credit card for a swanky wristband and are unleashed among the taps. Just walk up to the tap that’s calling your name, and you have the “freedom to pour” to your heart’s content. Unsure about a particular offering? Try an ounce. Love the fruit notes of that cider? Pour yourself a whole glass. Barrel Republic’s unique model charges guests by the ounce for any beverages they choose to pour themselves.

“We are providing our patrons with the ability to taste some of the best craft beer made—without waiting in line for a bartender to pour it, and also having the freedom to taste without having to buy the whole beer each time,” Founder and President of Barrel Republic Dave Peak said. “We offer everyone the freedom to pour.”

Beyond the unique beverage experience, Barrel Republic has also tackled the entertainment front. The bar’s unique setup allows guest the opportunity to get up, mingle, and meander through the taps and try different beers. Peak hopes to provide an additional level of excitement for guests. Pianos and Pints—a way to marry great live music with great craft beer.

“Pianos and pints came to be because there is something special about drinking good beer with good people and singing along to songs we all know the words to,” Peak said.

Lead by a pianist, the Pianos and Pints happens twice a week. Starting at 7 p.m., guests can enjoy live music and beer on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Currently, Barrel Republic’s Pacific Beach location does not have a kitchen, but they do have hot, buttered popcorn available for patrons all day long. Guests are also able to bring in food or even have it delivered.

“Come into Barrel Republic Pacific Beach and see for yourself how much fun you can have!” Peak said.
