New Art on the Walk Program to Start Oct. 14

Anaheim may be the home of the happiest place on earth, but it also hosts quite a few additional gems, perhaps the most creative of which is Anaheim GardenWalk. Opened in 2008, the GardenWalk is a lively outdoor dining, entertainment and shopping area in the heart of Anaheim. It features niche stores like Geeky Mamas, LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, and Red Apparel. It’s also home to popular restaurants such as California Pizza Kitchen, McCormick & Schmick’s Grille, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. There’s even a trendy bowling lounge and an upcoming location for House of Blues Anaheim. Since its opening, GardenWalk has striven to be a unique destination experience mall.The culmination of these ideals manifests this Oct. 14 in the launch of the GardenWalk Art on the Walk experience. GardenWalk has announced that it will be permanently displaying and featuring amazingly talented artists that can be found throughout Southern California by implementing their works throughout the GardenWalk property. This way, guests of the GardenWalk can shop and experience the beauty of local artwork, while providing Southern California artists with a great space to display their work in a public and friendly environment. “Anaheim GardenWalk’s decision to create its new Art on the Walk program is driven by a desire to support and give back to the local community in a new and exciting way, ” says Robin Weeks-Wynne, Senior Director of Marketing and Tourism at Anaheim GardenWalk. “Artists can share their inspiration and guests can enjoy eclectic works of art, while taking in all that GardenWalk has to offer, ” she continued. The kick-off event on Oct. 14, named simply Art on the Walk after the program title, will be the perfect atmosphere to debut this exciting new project. “We’re thrilled to provide an experience we’re confident will create a fun atmosphere for OC locals and visitors alike to enjoy with family and friends, ” says Weeks-Wynne. Featuring live music, stunning artwork, and even interactions with the artists themselves, it will be a fun, eclectic, and creative party in celebration of this new outlet for local art. Entertainment will start at 6 p.m. and include local musicians such as NBC/Telemundo program La Voz Kids finalist, Sean Oliu; Orange County-based musician Morgan Mallory; My Guilty Pleasures; as well as a special live performance from the ballroom dancers of the Anaheim Elementary School District. Amid these festivities, guests will be encouraged to view the unforgettable artwork, paintings, sculptures, photography, and film memorabilia that will be on display. Many artists will be onsite, creating an opportunity to see the artists at work, engage them in conversation, and understand their inspiration. Featured artists include individuals from the Artists Republic Gallery and students and teachers from Fairmont Private School, Chapman University, and the Anaheim Elementary School District. Adding to the interactive nature of the gallery, throughout the display period artists will be able to dynamically modify or change their pieces to present fresh content to visitors. “Of special note is a collection shown by Alyja Kalinich, ” says Weeks-Wynne, “featuring the works of noted Russian painter, Nicolay Paskevich.” Anaheim GardenWalk Art on the Walk
