Invite Your Furry Companions to Yappy Hour at The Ritz-Carlton

Pet Friendly Happy Hour at The Ritz-Carlton

The Resort hosts a tail-wagging happy hour, benefiting the Wounded Veteran’s Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence

The Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point is hosting a tail-wagging Happy Hour, following the trend of inviting our furry companions to join us for eats and drinks on a gorgeous Southern California patio. “Yappy Hour” is a monthly cocktail party for your most loyal pup, and of course yourself. You are invited to bring your tail-wagger to enjoy complimentarily, gourmet dog biscuits while imbibing on their special refreshing drinks like bacon, chicken, beef or vegan flavored water. While your pooch is having the time of their life, living like royalty, you can come with your friends and enjoy delicious barbecue options, a glass of Mutt Lynch Unleashed Chardonnay, Merlot Over and Play Dead, or Chateau d’Og Cabernet Sauvignon, cocktails and beer.

As part of the resort’s Community Footprints efforts,  proceeds from this 2016 Yappy Hour Season will benefit the Wounded Veteran’s Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence.

Wounded Veteran’s Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence

Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that helps those with disabilities by providing a highly trained assistance canine to create an everlasting partnership. Through their program, the largest of its kind, they help those in need of assistance gain independence while creating a bond that will last a lifetime. This non-profit is recognized worldwide for the superiority of its dogs and the quality and lastingness of the relationship between the hounds and their new owners, which they help choose. Their goal is to create a better quality of life through independence for those with disabilities, through a loving companionship.

With the increase in wounded veterans, the benefits of having an assistance dog are astonishing. Owning a Canine Companion helps the wounded veteran to recover from their past and gain the independence they want and deserve, along with providing a remarkable companionship between dog and owner.

Yappy Hour will be taking place on Thursdays May 19,  June 16, July 21, August 18 and September 15  from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Thursday October 27 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. you will be able to celebrate Yappy Howl-O-Ween with The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, where you are invited for tricks and treats in celebration of this Howl-O-Ween. Bring your pup dressed up, and ready to be judged by a panel of judges. The Judges will decide which canine will win the prize for each costume category (Dynamic Duo, Most Creative, Cute and Cuddly and Best in Show). Whoever places first in each category will receive a hand painted dog bowl by Debby Carman of Faux Paws Productions. The cost to enter your pup will be a donation of 10 dollars. Debby Carman creates beautiful, customized ceramic pet bowls, for whimsical one of a kind originals that will make your furry friend feel special. Carman is a Laguna Beach artist, author, and cartoonist who draws, paints and sculpts.

On Sunday, December 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Ritz-Carlton will host a Yappy Howl-iday where Santa Claus will make his special appearance, letting your pooch get his or her photo taken with the “Big Dog” himself. Photos with Santa can be purchased for a donation of 15 dollars. Since this holiday season is the time of giving, The resort asks that you bring unopened canned or dry dog food, treats or dog toys to be donated to an animal rescue organization.
