‘Tis the holiday season of calendar dates already jam-packed full of fun and festive parties that we can’t miss out on. Whether you’re a solo host or part of a party-planning committee, like Angela from the popular The Office television show, you have enough on your plate this time of year. When you’re juggling everything trying to make your event unforgettable event, the last thing you want to worry about is the cooking—leave it to the experts at Verbena Catering Co.
We talked with Event Planner at Grand Restaurant Group Jessica Gillon to give you the inside scoop on what is necessary to throw the ultimate family holiday get together, worry free.
Otherwise known as the real reason everyone showed up to your party! Verbena Catering Co. serves meals plated or buffet style, so choose wisely between Roasted Poblano & Sweet Corn Ravioli, Eggplant Caponata, or the Diver Scallops—anything you choose from the menu will surely satisfy the crowd. Gillon says to keep the choices open. “For food, it’s best to have a variety of options so that everyone can partake.” Gillon says. Cover your bases by having a vegetarian option. Keep in mind dietary restrictions, such as gluten or dairy intolerances. You’ll want to offer some side dishes that are dairy/cheese free.” Like, the Brussels sprouts, wild sautéed mushrooms or fried zucchini—yum!
Keep the Appetizers Coming!
Get creative with apps that will either be placed upon your themed coffee table, or on the move around the room. Verbena suggests supplying nibbles so your guests’ stomachs don’t growl. “If you’re not eating until later in the day, we recommend having snacks earlier to keep guests from getting hungry,” Gillon mentions. “A simple meat and cheese board, veggies and fruits always work well!” Verbena offers pretzel bites, street tacos, mini monte cristos, skewers and so much more!
Drinks to Clink
Like food, having a variety of beverages is key. You should provide a little something for everyone. “Wine and beer, and then a non-alcoholic beverage works well,” Gillon says. Opt for infused waters and lemonades; the combinations are a crowd favorite. She also advises to make your drink menu fun by adding ciders or mulled cranberry drinks!
Take your pick: pumpkins and gourds for Halloween; leaves and cornucopia for Thanksgiving; and bulbs for Christmas all make for idea décor for your holiday bash. Flowers make a nice touch. Gillon adds, “Seasonal blooms in fall classic colors also make great décor pieces.”
