The world of fine cuisine and the culinary arts is a hard one to break into. Unless you are in “the know,” gaining access to exclusive soirées or waiting months to get in that super-luxe restaurant is daunting. But once in a while, an event comes along that gives you an opportunity to experience the best of the best in a setting that is elegant without being too stuffy or pretentious. You get to experience the core of why it sparked your interest in the first place: the food.
Cue the Culinary Masters Series, a five-course dinner that will take place at The Strand House in Manhattan Beach on March 5. Sip on hand-selected wines, all while enjoying a meal prepped by the pros. Alongside The Strand’s Executive Chef Austin Cobb will be Chef Sang Yoon. Yoon is the brains behind LA favorites Father’s Office and Lukshon, as well as a chef/partner for Two Birds With One Stone in St. Helena, CA. Lest we forget, he has been profiled as a craft beer expert in USA Today, Food & Wine Magazine, and National Public Radio. And to add even more street cred to his lengthy resumé, Yoon has been a guest judge on the Food Network’s hit series “Top Chef”, and also competed on “Top Chef Masters.” Suffice to say, your dinner will be in the hands of a legend.
To bring in some star power to the evening, Jim Fox, former LA Kings player and Co-Founder of Patiné Cellars, will be repping his exceptional vinos made with the help of winemaker Mike Smith, ensuring that each pour complements Chef Yoon’s delectable dishes to perfection.
The cocktail reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., with dinner promptly at 7 p.m. The tickets are $150 per person, and include the dinner and beverage pairing as well as tax and 20 percent service charge.
