If you’re in need of a good LOL, look no further than the “Eddie Izzard: Believe Me Tour” coming to Segerstrom Center for the Arts (SCFTA) Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. WestBeth Entertainment presents a hilarious, emotional show giving a behind-the-scenes look into the life of the man behind the stand-up. Still not convinced? See below for five reasons why you won’t want to miss this!
Eddie Izzard
- He’s Funny AF
The Emmy Award-winning English comic has performed in 45 countries in four different languages, so it’s safe to say this isn’t his first rodeo. Izzard has been bringing the laughs for more than 30 years with a solid career in TV, film, politics and stand-up around the globe. If you’ve loved his stream-of-consciousness comedy lines such as “Cake or Death?” “Death Star Canteen,” and “Do You Have a Flag?”, you’ll definitely be a fan of “Believe Me!”
- You’ll Get to Ask Him Questions You’ve Been Dying to Know
There is an audience Q&A session so you’ll get a glimpse at Izzard like never before. Prepare your questions about how he originally started as a street-performing escape artist or that he’s a self-proclaimed “action transvestite,” or how he’s become as famous for his “total clothing” rights as he has for his art.
- Bill Gates is a HUGE Fan
He selected Izzard’s 2017 released book Believe Me: A Memoir of Love, Death and Jazz Chickens for his list “5 Amazing Books I Read This Year”. In the book, Izzard gets personal about his childhood, losing his mom at a very young age and how “we are all totally different, but we are all exactly the same.” Order your copy here and see how these stories come to life on stage!
- Location, Location, Location
Segerstrom Center for the Arts is Orange County’s largest non-profit arts organization, and presents an array of the finest cultural and entertainment experiences, from Broadway and dance, jazz, cabaret and classical music to family shows and special one-night-only concerts by the world’s leading artists (people like Eddy Izzard!). The Center reaches 360,000 young people and families each year with its community engagement and education programs. And it’s home to the School of Dance and Music for children with Disabilities and the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School. See SCFTA’s entire 2018 line-up here.
- You’ll Get to See Him Before LA Does
As OC people, we’ll take any win we can get over those Angelinos! Get your tickets here so you can witness all of the above and boast and brag to your LA friends.
