5 Things That Prove the DoubleTree in Palm Springs is Not a Mirage

Families, Couples and Colleagues Can All Enjoy Modern Comfort in the Desert

Picture this: It’s 120 degrees outside. You just sat through rush hour traffic. You’re a bit disheveled, sweaty, hungry and thirsty. You begrudgingly grab your bags as you make your way to your hotel. The goal? Get inside, take a shower, sleep. However, when you step through the door, cool air and neutral, zen decor greet you. A smiling, welcoming and informative front desk associate hands you your room keys and a warm, gooey chocolate cookie. Fruit-infused water is ready and waiting as you begin to forget the heat outside and bask in an instant calm. Sound too good to be true? Think again. Below are five reasons why you should give the DoubleTree by Hilton Golf Resort Palm Springs a try.

1.The Décor

Talk about being one with your surroundings! As if born from the sensational San Jacinto mountains that pose as the backdrop for the resort, the décor provides a quiet tranquility for weary travellers. The spot recently underwent a major renovation—more like a rejuvenation—at the hands of the acclaimed Rodrigo Vargas Design studio. Thier 289 rooms and suites each feature a private patio or balcony, most with golf course and mountain views. It embodies the quintessential desert retreat—and then some.

2.The Food and Drinks

In the event that your relaxation level is at an all time high and hunger calls, no need to leave the premises! My suggestion? Get the breakfast buffet in the a.m. If you want some waffles, a hefty side of bacon, eggs and potatoes, just to name a few, you can load up your plate to your heart’s content. If you have room for an omelette freshly made before your eyes and with the add-ins of your choice, more power to you! Next, after a dip in the pool, order some street tacos and a daiquiri while you take in those legendary Cali-rays. Grab a mojito and more tacos (I know, I have a problem) at the Mira Bar during happy hour while you watch the sun set behind the mountains. Finally, head back to Palanco for the drool-worthy Tajin-Crusted Salmon. Mmmm!

3.The Amenities

The resort offers 27 holes of championship golf, a 5,000-square-foot sun deck, an Olympic-sized pool, dual hot tubs, fire pit, cushy lounge areas and private cabanas. It is an actual desert oasis. A fully loaded fitness center is at hand if you went a little ham on dinner the night before.

4.The Staff

It was 11 p.m. and I was in one of the hotel’s cozy bathrobes when I realized I forgot my toothpaste. I was given a fresh tube of the essential toiletry immediately! Aside from saving me from having two days of bad breath, the staff were warm and welcoming from the moment I entered the hotel. Dan Randles, the Director of Food and Beverage, from start to finish filled every position within the hotel, filling us in on all the ins and outs of the resort, subbing as a bartender when the bar got a little too poppin’ and bussing dirty dishes, all with a smile. Every staff member seemed to share a similar attitude: going above and beyond to keep things running smoothly and making sure guests were in their happy place without a hitch.

5.The Location

The hotel is within short driving distance of horseback riding, hiking and biking trails, Joshua Tree National Park, the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Desert Hills Premium Outlets, Cabazon Outlets, the airport and plenty more. Nearby annual festivals include Coachella and Stagecoach and it is also just minutes away from bustling downtown Palm Springs with its art museums, boutiques and cafés. Of course, with all the above mentioned amenities right on the premises, you may choose not to leave the hotel grounds at all!
