Southern California is home to some of the most delicious and unique food in the nation. Carlsbad in particular has a handful of my absolute favorite locations that serve creatively designed masterpieces that are as tasty as they are visually stunning. These locally inspired treats will have you going back for seconds! Aside from their culinary options, Carlsbad offers many of my favorite activities. The city has everything from theme parks, seasonal flower fields and many hiking trails that any locals and visitors can enjoy; this city truly has it all! I recently visited this beautiful city and found some of my new favorite restaurants, and they can be your new faves too!

This Has a Perfect Score in Our Book

This spot is definitely on my list of favorite restaurants; it offers a combination of amazing food and beautiful coastal views from the outside terrace. One of my favorite dishes from this location is the Avocado Mushroom Toast. Who doesn’t love an open faced sandwich that’s lightly toasted and topped with avocado, truffle oil and manchego cheese? The Pan Seared Barramundi was cooked to perfection; crispy on the outside, light and flakey on the inside, and melts in your mouth. Absolutely delicious! The Lemon Herb Butter Risotto was super light and packed with flavor, I’ve been craving it nonstop since my visit. Lastly, I would recommend ordering the Grilled Broccolini. This is the perfect complement to any of the meals offered.

Native Knowledge: TWENTY/20 was named for its picture-perfect views.

You’ll Have to Wrestle Me for One of These Tacos

My new go-to spot for delicious Mexican food! I was born and raised in Mexico and this gourmet taco shop gives me the feels. My favorite item is their knockout fries. Just writing about them makes me smile. They come with your choice of steak or chicken, and they are topped with bacon, mushrooms, melted jack cheese, avocado slices, queso enchilada and their famous secret chipotle sauce. Their decor is one of a kind; I’ve never seen a more fun location. Every inch of this restaurant is a picture-perfect spot, they offer colorful walls decorated with Lucha Libre photos, masks, etc. They even offer a Champion’s booth where you can sit, but only if you made a reservation prior to attending. I would award this place with most unique concept and best flavors at great prices.

Like Sharknado? Try This Turknado!

I would consider Board & Brew a Carlsbad Village staple that offers fresh, specialty sandwiches and craft beer. This place is always packed, but there’s a reason why we all love it! Their Turkado Sandwich is one of my favorites; it has turkey breast and jack cheese topped with avocado and served on sourdough bread. Another must-try is the Baja Wrap with marinated chicken breast, avocado, grilled onions, jalapeño peppers and melted jack served in a spinach wrap—now tell me that doesn’t sound amazing! This spot oozes the authentic, California lifestyle and their vibe is welcoming to all.

Native Knowledge: If you’re dying to have Board & Brews sandwiches at your next office event, don’t worry, they cater!

You’ve Just Been Poked

There’s a new poke spot in town! This Hawaiian-inspired dish is one that we just can’t get tired of. Grubby’s Poke & Fish Market aim to bring the freshness by featuring locally caught fish; you can take home the day’s catch by the pound! I know I’ll be here on weekends, will I see you there?

Be Apart of The Breakfast Club

The soon to come Carlsbad location will be as egg-cellent as ever. Founder and owner Johan Engman will be bringing our breakfast favorites to life in his creative and innovative menu. From Oreo Cookie Pancakes to Turkey Meatloaf Hash, you’ll know why you have to stop by this spot for the most important meal of the day once the doors open in Summer 2018. Can’t choose? Try their French toast sampler where you get to choose three of your favorites on one plate—the Lemon ‘n Coconut, S’mores and Mr. Presley is an unstoppable combo.
