Do you love the smell of the salty ocean and the sight of bright green trees? Come show your appreciation for Mother Nature’s beauty at Mesa’s early Earth Day celebration Wednesday, April 19 from 5-9 p.m. The Surf and Earth event will offer guests dishes and drinks inspired by Mother Nature herself. Plus, 15 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Surfrider Foundation, an organization that’s dedicated to protecting our beaches and oceans. Not only is this a free event, but Coronado Brewery, Surfrider Foundation and Tavik Clothing will be there as well, along with funky jazz music from Joshua Payne Orchestra. If that’s not intriguing enough, here are six delicious sips and bites you won’t want to miss at this event.

Caipirinha

A simple, but delicious drink, made with Cachaça (Brazilian rum) sugar and muddled lime you’ll be saying hallelujah to the Earth gods.

CoastWise Session IPA

A limited quantity of CoastWise Session IPA from Coronado Brewery will be making an appearance at this event, as should you.

Surf, Turf and Earth Skewers

Each bite more delicious than the last, the Surf, Turf and Earth Skewers have something for everyone. Whether it’s the surf skewer with hearty pieces of Mexican white shrimp, the turf skewer with skirt steak, or the earth skewer with veggies grilled to perfection, you’ll be in Earth Day heaven. All served with an herby, Green Goddess sauce and a house made chef’s hot sauce.

Carrots in “Soil”

Colorful carrots sit inside a cast iron skillet sprinkled with pumpernickel “soil” that gives the dish that perfect amount of crunch. Seated next to the carrots is a bed of burrata cheese topped with cilantro chimichurri that complements the carrots wonderfully.

Perfectly Pink Salmon

Another dish you can expect is salmon atop spinach quinoa. This gorgeous dish is topped with a pea vine tendril salad with edible pansies, grilled lemon, and a delicious yogurt chive sauce.

Potted Pansies

Served in a small pot, this chocolate cupcake is going to be the cutest dessert you’ll ever eat, not to mention it’s absolutely heavenly. Topped with a chocolate buttercream frosting, dark chocolate cookie crumble, and an edible pansy, you’ll definitely want to take a photo of this dish before you dive in.
