The matcha craze isn’t totally new, but it’s also showing no signs of stopping. From refreshing boba drinks and the smoothest soft serves to delectable pastries (have you heard of matcha tofu donuts?) and acai bowls, innovative local businesses have found an impressive number of new ways to incorporate what is probably your current favorite tea and flavor obsession (we can only assume, since you’ve found your way to this list).
So here it is—the top 15 matcha spots in California for your slurping, sipping and chewing pleasure!

Methodology: This is an all-time list of the best matcha spots in California according to Yelp. We identified businesses in the restaurants and food categories with a large concentration of reviews mentioning “matcha,” then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews mentioning “matcha.” If a chain appeared on the list more than once, we only included the highest rated location. We included only one or two business(es) per county for geographic diversity.
