Best Med Spa in LA

Dr. Michele Ware of Los Feliz Med Spa

Q: What inspired you to go into this line of work?

Michele Ware: First and foremost, the science behind the treatment. It is a very exciting field with a lot of scientific breakthroughs. I also was very interested to find a positive solution towards aging and the best way to find a resolution to this issue was to do it myself! I want to help other women like myself.

Q: What makes your practice unique from others?

MW: I have been practicing aesthetic medicine specifically for over 12 years, so I think my level of experience really sets my practice apart. Our office, rather than others, really focuses on getting real results. We are also very patient-oriented, not sales driven. The most important thing when a patient walks in the door is that they are happy and healthy and that we are offering them a more holistic approach to health and beauty, versus just trying to get them in and sell them products that they don’t need. I think this aspect of our practice really sets us apart from many other offices.

Q: What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?

MW: When patients look in the mirror and they are happy about themselves. I get to see patients go through a transformation and the happiness and confidence that it brings them. That is something that makes me fall in love with my job every single day. We have amazing patients and getting to see the transformation and change in people is really exciting for me.

Q: How does it feel to have any of your celebrity clientele on People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful” list?

MW: It feels great, but we do not differentiate between our celebrity vs. non-celebrity clientele.

RN Jamie Sherrill of Beauty Park Medical Spa

Q: What inspired you to go into this line of work?

Jamie Sherrill: I grew up in a small town in Indiana (pre-iPhone era and fashion magazines). I was obsessed with skincare from an early age, and I started working for a dermatologist when I was 18.

Q: What makes your practice unique from others?

JS: Our vision is simple—to offer not only the best non-surgical beauty solutions available on the market, but also a customized combination of the most cutting-edge technical advances in anti-aging, skincare and beauty today. High-tech tools, devices and home-based care are a big part of my regiment and I make everyone participate.

Q: What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?

JS: Lasers and makeovers. Lasers excite me and makeovers are my life. I love what I do and I created my line of products because I felt that they were missing in the marketplace. As a busy working mom of three, I’m proud to say that I’m my own client.

Do you know how many patients come in on their actual birthday? I take that at the [biggest] compliment ever, as you don’t go to your dentist on your birthday.

Q: How does it feel to have many of your celebrity clientele on People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful” list?

JS: We were voted number four worldwide of Instagram accounts to follow for aesthetics and we attribute this to our celebrity clientele. We are in the business of beauty and making people look and feel their best, so features for them are always exciting for us at Beauty Park Spa. We specialize in non-surgical beauty and think there is a trend of ‘enhanced natural’ that we specialize in that happens to be a favorite amongst celebrities.

Charmaine Arnaud of Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center

Q: What inspired you to go into this line of work?

Charmaine Arnaud: I didn’t even know this industry existed until I saw an ad for Botox and there was a nurse with scrubs in the ad. Immediately, I researched and saw that non-invasive aesthetics was a specialty, and within a month I took an exclusive class for RNs and I felt like I had found my niche. The main thing that inspires me in this line of work is the artistic aspect. I see a canvas when I work with the patient to create art in life and vice versa. This line of work also brings me patients who are happy to get their treatment, and they leave happy and satisfied, and I go home happy and satisfied.

Q: What makes your practice unique from others?

CA: We are an encompassing practice of wellness, where we treat the inside as much as the outside with our bio-identical hormone replacement wellness center. It’s a balance and a regimen of both these things, and of course the basics of adequate sleep, nutritious food, exercise and mental health.

Q: What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?

CA: Really the moments that transform patients, not just in the visual sense, but the confidence and happiness that my patient’s experience after the process.

Q: How did your eclectic background in acute care telemetry and as a supervisor for home health aid and guide you to your current career?

CA: To me it’s always been about relationships. I have always been a deeply feeling human being, and whatever the industry or field of nursing, it all comes down to creating meaningful, long-term relationships with my patients that allows me to continue my practice as a nurse practitioner.

Dr. Lisa Benya of CURE Salon and Spa

Q: What inspired you to go into this line of work?

Lisa Benya: My husband has Lyme disease and I watched him struggle to get well. During this process I saw first hand how taking care of himself on the outside with skin, hair, etc. made a difference in how he felt, so I decided to incorporate spa, med spa and salon services into my medical practice!

Q: What makes your practice unique from others?

LB: As an internal medicine physician, I am able to see what the entire person’s health needs are both inside and out. Most med spas are owned by dermatologists or plastic surgeons that approach just from external appearance/skin knowledge. We are truly the most advanced and trusted brand as clients know I am integrating their health completely and ensuring the treatments are both beautifying and healthy. Also, we are the only hair salon owned by an internal medicine physician!

Q: What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?

LB: The most enjoyable aspect of my job is seeing how, no matter what a client’s health is, we have what it takes to make them feel better. Whether a client is suffering from diabetes or just a bad hair day, CURE has what it takes to help make every day the most quality day possible! That is the most amazing gift to be able to give people!

Q: How do you manage your time working for CURE and St. John’s Hospital?

LB: Being able to direct a client’s health from our facilities in Malibu and West Hollywood all the way through to hospitalizations has been challenging. I now have a full team of the most amazing practitioners and together we divide and conquer! Thank goodness there are 24 hours in a day, as I use each and every one of them!

Nicola Lowrey of Skin 365 Med Spa

Q: What inspired you to go into this line of work?

Nicola Lowrey: From a very young age my eye was drawn to beautiful, aesthetic lines. As a performing ballerina, you learn all about makeup application for stage: the ways to make your eyes appear larger and more beautifully shaped, how to enhance your lip line and cheek projection. From early on, I had an insight into what was considered ‘classically beautiful.’

When I was still training at USC to become a PA, my professors helped me realize that I had exquisite procedural skills. A career in a surgical type specialty was suggested. I began my career as a PA practicing Emergency Medicine. I loved it. It was fast-paced and I got to perform many procedures during every shift. This included repairing complicated facial lacerations. I often got to work alongside plastic surgeons on the most difficult cases. I learned so much those early years, from how to keep a patient comfortable during a procedure to the precise approximation of a lip laceration to give the patient the most ideal cosmetic outcome in an unfortunate situation.

Around this same time a new market in aesthetic medicine was brewing and had peaked my interest. In 2004, I attended a certification workshop for aesthetic injectables. At this time there were only two products available. Botox and Restalyne. Needless to say, I fell in love! I was able to marry my artistic, aesthetic-loving side with my strong medical and procedural background.

Q: What makes your practice unique from others?

NL: I think what sets our practice apart is that we understand that at the end of the day-this is still medicine. There is a light-hearted, friendly feel to our clinic, but we understand the importance of our patients safety and choose to keep our practice held to the highest standards ethically and procedurally. Every injector has at least 10 years of experience and we are constantly attending medical education workshops to stay at the forefront of our industry.

Q: What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?

NL: I am a very social person. I enjoy spending time with my clients. Many clients have followed me over the years and we have developed close relationships. It’s always fun to come in to work, peek at my schedule and get excited to see who’s coming in that day.
