It’s the new year and it’s finally time to step outside your culinary comfort zone. The perfect place to take that first step and explore global cuisine on a local level is during the Winter 2019 DineLA Restaurant Week. From Jan. 11-25, over 400 restaurants will be showcasing their diversity through carefully curated tasting menus that highlight each chef’s unique heritage. This is a great opportunity to expand your palate in a city that does food like no other! From Italian food to modern Asian and beyond, there is a tasting menu that will satisfy everyone. We’ve rounded up the top 10 restaurants that we are most excited for during DineLA week. So bring your new year’s attitude and an appetite to match!

Café Gratitude  offers a one-of-a-kind experience with their plant-based, gourmet style restaurant. They only use the freshest, organic ingredients. During DineLA they have dishes with names like “Exquisite” which is a starter of coconut calamari with smoked salt, gremolata, lime and cocktail sauce. “Committed” is one of their entree choices and it is a pulled mushroom sandwich with barbecue sauce, creamy coleslaw, spicy aioli, and an artisan bun.  

Native Knowledge: Each dish has a special name and when you order your food your server will say, “You are,” followed by the name of the dish you chose.

“Un lugar en la mesa del amor,” meaning “Welcome to a seat at love’s table.” That is what you will get when you visit Gracias Madre. Serving cuisine that draws inspiration from the kitchens of Mexico, their mission is to celebrate the presence of “mother.” The Mexican authenticity is felt even in the simple choices found around the restaurant from tile choices to fabrics and colors. On the menu are items like Gorditas which are potato-masa cakes and their Barbecue Jackfruit Carnitas Tacos. With such a creative flavor profile it is easy to feel right at home.

Located on the ground floor of LA’s first-ever high rise built in 1923, the Taft building, is now home modern steakhouse that blends American BBQ with the classic French cooking style. Legendary Chef Adam Perry Lang’s “grilling guru” skills will be showcased on this five-course menu with items like a Hand Cut Filet Mignon Tartare and Dry Aged Ribeye that was aged in the 1,000 square foot Environmental Chamber below the restaurant.

Silver Lake’s new gem, Ma’am Sir, opened in June 2018 and has quickly become a vital part of the city. Charles Olalia has harnessed LA’s Filipino cuisine and has created this new upbeat restaurant on Sunset, where ivy hangs from the ceiling and people can’t get enough of the delicious food. Try their best-selling Longganisa Burger with housemade pork sausage and kewpie mayo atchara, or the Barbequed Milkfish pickled papaya and a black pepper sauce. Olalia’s ability to delicately blend flavors makes this a must try!
