What does the end of your typical day look like? Maybe you skipped the gym in lieu of Netflix binging on the couch. Sound familiar? What if I told you that you could have the best of both worlds, burning up to 600 calories while you lie down watching your favorite shows? No, this is not an ad for a new workout fad, and it’s definitely not about dieting. Perspire Sauna Studio lets you have your cake and burn it off too.

When most people hear the word “sauna,” they might think of a giant room full of naked strangers. Perspire Sauna is changing the game. Gone are the days of sweating in the nude in a towel while the person next to you bares it all. Perspire Sauna offers private infrared sauna rooms that heat up to 158 degrees, and offer amenities including Pandora, cable, and, you guessed it, Netflix.

Located inside of LA Fitness in Huntington Beach, with additional locations in Costa Mesa and Laguna Niguel, Perspire Sauna offers a multitude of health benefits. Whether you’re stressed, suffering from acne, looking to lose weight, suffering from muscle/joint pain or just finished chemotherapy, 40 minutes in one of their private saunas will do a world of good. Benefits also include skin cell rejuvenation, improving your immune system, and so much more. How does this miracle machine work, you ask? The infrared saunas produce the same far infrared heat as the sun and penetrate the skin two to three inches rather than just heating the surface like a typical sauna. In fact, you’ll detox seven times more than you would at a traditional sauna.

Chromotherapy, aka colored light, is also provided in your sauna. You have the option of using a red, yellow, green, blue, orange, or violet light; each offering different benefits. If you’re looking to relax and be calm, opt for the blue light. Have a stiff neck? Go for the red.

In preparation for your first visit to Perspire Sauna, I recommended that you drink 20 ounces of water, have a light snack 30 to 60 minutes prior, and wear loose fitting clothes. A calm, relaxing environment, the sauna feels more like an upscale spa rather than a sauna at a public pool. Slide back the giant door to your private room and step into the small, dimly lit room that has a infrared sauna encased inside. With only one side of the sauna being glass, that being the side facing the television, you’re free to rid yourself of all clothing. Set your chromotherapy light to your preferred color, flip to your favorite Netflix show, and adjust the temperature to your liking. You are now ready to sit back, relax, and unplug from the rest of life’s worries.

“Be ready to take a break from daily life, and mentally prepared to have no one bug you for the next 40 minutes,” said General Manager Katy Fetters.

Once you’re done with your session, which you’re free to end it early if you’d like, cool off with a cold eucalyptus towel and rehydrate with 20 more ounces of water. There’s no doubt that you will feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and will notice the benefits of what will probably be the most relaxing part of your week.
