Remember the Dead at Día de los Muertos Cathedral City Events

November 2

Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday that celebrates the lives of loved ones who have passed away. Traditionally, people create altars for their loved ones that are adorned with food, candles, flowers and more. Desert Memorial Park Cemetery will honor those who have passed with a special celebration that is open and free to the public. From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., guests can enjoy folkloric dancing, face painting, mariachi bands, food vendors and a community altar. The first 500 attendees will be treated to free pan de muerto—bread of the dead—which is a sweet bread baked in the shape of bones.
