Boys Town California hosted their 4th Annual Uncork for Hope fundraising event on Sunday, May 1 at Center Club in Costa Mesa. Guests were treated to an extensive wine tasting selection from over 15 wineries, hor d’oeuvres and desserts from Center Club’s fine dining kitchen, and an auction featuring generous donations from local businesses. Adam Miller Board of Directors for Boys Town California and member of the Board of Governors at Center Club is the creator and host for Uncork for Hope. All proceeds from the cocktail event benefitted Boys Town California.

Boys Town was founded nearly 100 years ago by Father Flanagan with a mission to help at-risk youth. This vision to aid families and youth in crisis continues today and is made possible by the donations and fundraising events like Uncork for Hope. The sell-out evening had 300 in attendance and was expected to raise $130, 000. Lawren Ramos, Executive Director for Boys Town California, was especially excited to see a big turn out as the generous donations would allow them to better serve the 48, 000 people that use the support services of Boys Town California.

Paul Evan Greenwald, Chairman of the Board of Governors at Center Club, stressed how important it was to him and Center Club to be involved in lifting others in need. “Give, no matter how small, it makes a big difference…it enhances your life when you enhance the life of another.” Center Club has been a proud host to numerous charitable events as many of the members of Board of Governors as well as members of Center Club, are actively involved in community nonprofits, especially Boys Town California.

The successful night was made possible through the extraordinary support of businesses such as FirstTeam Estates, Balboa Wealth Partners, and Northwestern Mutual to name a few. California wineries helped to draw in the crowd with their selection of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rose, and Chardonnay wines. Representing some of the best in California were Attune, Herman Story, Rodney Strong, Lando, Saint Helena, Desparada, and Argot wineries. With over 15 wineries pouring their best, guests were eager to fill up their personal wine collection with their favorites.

Music by American Idol contestant Adam Lasher and laughter filled the room as guests silently bid on items ranging from fun to pampering to fashionable. Some of the items in the auction included a ride along with OC Law Enforcement, skin care treatments from The Brow & Skin Studio and Skin Laundry, tickets to Angel and Dodger games, an American Flag that flew over the Capital, custom suits by Hong Kong Grand, jewelry by designer Kendra Scott, and a night out for two starting with dinner at Center Club followed by a performance at Segerstrom and a nights stay at Marriott Newport Beach. There were also several exclusive wines donated for the charitable event such as those by Lombardi, Bevan, Highway 12 and Jericho Canyon wineries.

The night was also marked by awarding Tilly Levine with the 2016 Champion of Hope Award. Co-founder of Tilly’s Inc and Founder of Tilly’s Life Center, TLC, Levine has partnered up with Boys Town California for over 16 years in aiding disadvantaged teens learn essential life skills. TLC’s mission is to help empower teens by helping them to see their potential. TLC does this through courses that teach how to cope with life’s challenges, building their self-esteem, inspiring compassion, and motivating them to pursue their dreams with confidence.

At the heart of Boys Town California, TLC, and the donors at the night’s event was one unifying message…there is hope.
