Whether you’re headed to a rooftop DJ set or off to work, coffee is essential in this city. The caffeine scene in Las Vegas has grown immensely in the last decade, sprouting a variety of independent coffee shops. So when you want to enjoy a cup of expertly curated coffee or some delightful bites, there are options for every cup of joe connoisseur  in the city, especially on National Coffee Day, which falls on Sept. 29. Coffee houses have begun to go to extensive lengths to attract and delight sippers, from vibrant décor to innovative menu items to even exploring mobile coffee shops. Each spot on this list emphasizes different facets of coffee culture while maintaining their own individual styles. Drink on!

Caffeine O’Clock

Café Darak features retro decor complete with antique furniture, old model toys and a Volkswagen bus tent. The menu is vast and diverse, featuring coffees, teas, lattes, milkshakes and even shaved ice. Café Darak, open until 2 a.m., providing guests with a quirky and unique place to start their day or end their night.

Grouchy John and JJ, co-founders of Grouchy John’s, have found their calling in serving what they call “caffeinated happiness.” These two met in college and formed Grouchy John’s, where they can be found today serving their delicious drinks to customers. They serve hot and cold drinks, as well as wraps, sandwiches and pastries.

Illumilatte Brew Society, named after the mysterious Illuminati, maintains a certain mystique in their small tucked-away location. This coffee spot prides themselves on their signature drink, The Illumilatte, a black and white chocolate latte. This shop also curates a secret menu, so do your research before you go!

This shop is an environmentally-friendly destination that boasts a health-conscious menu, with an emphasis on girl power. Owner and founder, Deborah Armstrong, spent 32 years in the tech field before she found her passion serving and producing a healthy coffee option in Las Vegas.

This destination is a canteen-style coffee house located in the Fremont East District of Downtown. They put an emphasis on brunch, serving mimosas, egg dishes and, of course, avocado toast. All of the food they serve is farm-to-table, making PublicUs a great stop for a yummy and responsible meal.
