The hunt for the perfect weekend dining locations is not for the faint of heart. It is a tough and tedious process involving a great deal of sacrifice, rounds of trial and error and it can take weeks—even months—to find great locations worthy of your fleeting time on the weekends. You want it all: great food that is reasonably priced, friendly and attentive service, a lively atmosphere and a well-rounded selection of drinks. Enter: Cork & Fork and Heirloom Craft Kitchen. Your new weekend dining spots that check all of the boxes.

Andie Hubka, executive chef and owner of Cork & Fork and the newly-opened Heirloom Craft Kitchen, recently added new dishes crafted with high-quality ingredients to the menus at both of her restaurants. “Each season we look at what’s really special and fresh, what’s growing locally and what kind of dishes our customers are craving, and we put together our menu based on those things,” Hubka said.

Among the new menu options available at Cork & Fork is the Roasted Squash Salad. Get the party started with this light, tasty appetizer made with baby spinach, dried cranberries, laura chenel goat cheese, toasted almonds and a maple mustard vinaigrette.

For a larger appetizer (or a healthy addition to your meal!), order the Smoked Salmon Salad, a mouthwatering mix of avocado, pickled red onions, cucumber, mixed greens and topped with a tangy citrus vinegar dressing.

Not in the mood for a salad? Try the new Zucchini Chips—a starter made with garlic aioli, Parmesan and fresh herbs. Warning: you may want to flag your waiter down to put in a second order of this addicting appetizer. Lucky for your taste buds, Cork & Fork has a ‘Mix, Match, Share & Enjoy’ philosophy, which means that dining family-style is highly encouraged to maximize your experience.“We have some nice wintery, comforting dishes on the menu now but also some really nice light things so you can have the best of both worlds,” Hubka said. “Since our portions are small and shareable you can really try everything.”

Since pizza is just about the most shareable dish ever created, you should definitely order Cork & Fork’s new Bordeaux Pizza, which is topped with alfredo, cabernet onions, mozzarella, mushrooms, pancetta and fresh arugula. Vegans, have no fear. Both Cork & Fork and Heirloom Craft Kitchen now offer entire menus dedicated to dishes crafted sans animal products that match the quality and taste of the traditional menu items. For a vegan substitute to the Bordeaux Pizza, order their Vegan Pizza made with tofu cheese, kalamata olives, marinara, truffled spinach, garlic oil and fresh herbs. The vegan menus also include items like the tacos, avocado toast, crispy cauliflower and a farmers market salad.

Don’t leave Cork & Fork without indulging in the new Cavatappi Pasta Carbonara, a large serving of cheesy alfredo pasta that comes with snow peas, wild mushrooms and pine nut gremolata. While sharing is encouraged, you’ll secretly want to keep this dish all to yourself.

Cork & Fork offers 17 food-friendly wines ranging from $10-$16 by the glass, so don’t hesitate to ask for help in selecting the perfect wine to pair with this dish.

Switch it up with the Seared Scallops, one of the newest menu items at Cork & Fork, made with maple sweet potato puree, brown butter and crispy sage. This is a dish you’ll be craving all winter long. Still hungry? Creamy polenta, a red wine demi glaze and truffled arugula make Cork & Fork’s new Gorgonzola Stuffed Turkey Meatloaf a delectable choice that will leave you satisfied and wanting more.

If these Palm Springs eateries weren’t already on your radar for their casual yet classy atmospheres and great selection of wines, tasting the newly-updated menu items will convince you that Cork & Fork and Heirloom Craft Kitchen offer some of the best dining experiences that Greater Palm Springs has to offer.
