It’s official! The Happiest Place on Earth is reopening, and it’s safe to say we are more than ready for a little Disney magic! Both theme parks (Disneyland and Disney California Adventure) in Anaheim will open their gates to California residents on April 30 with limited capacity. That’s right, folks—it’s time to dig out those Mickey ears and start planning the perfect Disney adventure. Here are seven magical things to look forward to before your next trip to the park! Disneyland Reopened
1 | That First Bite of Dole Whip Disneyland Reopened
If you know…you know. This beloved frozen treat is a park staple—perfect for a warm spring or summer day. We can’t wait to savor the taste of sunshine (and pineapple) with a soft-serve swirl of the legendary frozen Dole Whip. You can order this sweet treat at the counter outside of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room!
2 | An Adrenaline Rush on the Incredicoaster Disneyland Reopened
Word on the street is…the Supers are back! Disney California Adventure’s newly reimagined Incredicoaster (the former California Screamin’ with an overlay featuring The Incredibles) offers all of the thrills you’ve been missing. This exhilarating coaster depicts a mad dash to catch Baby Jack-Jack as he wreaks havoc throughout this high-speed chase!
3 | A Trip to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Disneyland Reopened
This epic attraction officially opened in May 2019 and is one of Disneyland’s most recent additions. But due to pandemic closures, many haven’t experienced it’s galactic glory yet. Fortunately, we’ve managed to get vaccines to a galaxy far, far away…and things are looking up! You can now explore this iconic nook of the park and take control of the fastest ship in the galaxy on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Then join the Resistance in an epic battle against the First Order on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
4 | Snow White’s Enchanted Wish
Cherished attraction Snow White’s Scary Adventures has undergone a magical reimagination with all-new scenes, enhanced story details and shimmering effects that tell the story of this timeless fairytale. Now called Snow White’s Enchanted Wish, this Fantasyland attraction brings to life Snow White’s “happily ever after.”
5 | Roaming the All-New Avengers Campus
On June 4, 2021, an epic Avengers Land will open at Disney California Adventure, offering powered-up attractions, heroic encounters and legendary experiences. Attractions include WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT! When you’re on an urgent mission to fight hunger, make your way to Pym Test Kitchen for delicious food at unusual scales, made using the revolutionary shrink-and-grow technology of Pym Particles. Here, you’ll find a menu packed with inventive-sized dishes, teeny tiny treats and more!
6 | A Wild Jungle Cruise Adventure
For decades, Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise attraction has offered riders a humorous adventure through wild tropical terrain via boat. But the behind-the-scenes “Imagineers” have plans to switch things up a bit—don’t worry, the ride will still deliver the witty jokes and animal puns we’ve all come to love from the skipper. The Adventureland attraction will feature a new comical backstory that follows the journey of a group of explorers who’ve set off into the jungle…with plenty of peril in tow.
7 | Character Meet and Greets Disneyland Reopened
While you may not be able to get up close and personal with all of your favorite Disney characters, you will be able to snap a few selfies from a distance. Expect to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse waving from the train station and Disney princesses appearing at the Royal Theatre. At Disney California Adventure, Pixar pals may wave from the bandshell stage at Pixar Pier, and you can snap a few photos with Lightning McQueen along Route 66 in Cars Land.
Know Before You Go! Disneyland Reopened
Safety is a top priority, so before you embark on your Disney adventure, there are several important things to note.
» Both parks will be using a new reservation system. Guests must make reservations and buy a ticket prior to their trip. In other words, no showing up and buying a ticket anymore!
» Prior to your trip, you’ll want to download the Disneyland Resort app. This is where you’ll be able to place mobile orders at the food outlets, scan and pay for merchandise, use the GPS-enabled map of the park and more.
» You can expect to see enhanced health and safety measures implemented throughout the park. These measures include appropriate facial coverings, temperature screenings prior to park entry, capacity measures, physical distancing, enhanced cleaning procedures and cashless transactions.
