Find out Where You Can Eat a Huge Plate of Your Favorite Mexican Food for Only 95 Cents on October 23

All El Cholo Locations Are Serving Their Most Popular Combination Plate for Less Than a Dollar

Mexican food is a universal language in SoCal. And no matter where you are from, the closer you are to the border, the closer you are to all the flavors and stomach-growl-inducing dishes we have come to know and love as staples in our diets. Taquitos may be the most important food group, in my humble opinion.

So what if I told you that you could eat some of your favorite Mexican classics all on one plate for less than a dollar? You would probably throw your head back, laugh hysterically and tell this tall tale to your family later that night as they all join in on the hilarity.

Guess what? This is no joke. On October 23, El Cholo will be serving their all-time best selling item, the “#1” combination plate—I’m talkin’ a cheese enchilada, a rolled beef taco, Spanish rice and refried beans—for 95 cents all day long.

The deal is celebrating their 95th anniversary, and will take place at all six of their locations in Los Angeles on Western Ave., La Habra, Santa Monica, Downtown Los Angeles, Anaheim Hills and Corona Del Mar. Since 1923, the family-owned local favorite has been consistently serving traditional and quality Mexican fare to their undyingly loyal customers, making it a staple for both LA and OC locals as well as passersby.

Now run by the grandson of the founders, Ron Salisbury is staying true to their legacy, which lies in their commitment to fresh ingredients, a long family history, dedicated employees and devoted clientele. “Growing up it was always interesting to see the diversity of Angelenos that came into the restaurant, our food is what set us apart and everyone wanted a bite of it,” said Salisbury. “By staying true to our original recipes, we have not only made it to 95 years, but we have also grown from one restaurant to six.”

See you there! El Cholo 95th Anniversary

Native Knowledge: Olympic athlete—and Salisbury’s babysitter—Louis Zamperini’s favorite dish is the #1 combination, as well as their famous green corn tamales and margaritas.   El Cholo 95th Anniversary
