Tastes of the Deep South and Northern California Unite at This Annual Bash

Calling all of San Diego’s spirit and wine lovers! Whether your taste buds are fine-tuned to detect sweet notes or you’re just dipping a toe into the deep pool of spirits and wines—this upcoming Southern-style feast is for you. Whiskey and Wine BBQ

On Friday, Oct. 7, Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa’s California rancho-style setting transforms into an upscale autumn mixer for its 4th Annual Whiskey and Wine BBQ featuring a Southern-style feast paired with bourbon, whiskey and wine tastings. Special guests—Trinitas Cellars proprietor Garrett Busch, Jack Daniel’s brand ambassador Eric Tecosky and a representative from Woodford Reserve—join the fun to guide folks through a tasting of each. Whiskey and Wine BBQ

Guests should expect to walk into a charming autumn atmosphere featuring Estancia’s red brick courtyard accented by beautiful gardens, string lights, large BBQ grills, rustic picnic tables and people mingling around bonfires. For additional entertainment, Estancia is bringing in a live Blues band to perform for the crowd as they sip, swirl and savor the night away.   

If the atmosphere of the perfect autumn night hasn’t sold you yet, the food and drink experience will. The night offers intimate, one-on-one tasting sessions with some of the highest quality spirits and wines straight from the source where people can try and learn. Whiskey and Wine BBQ

On the spirits’ end, Tecosky with the top-selling American whiskey, Jack Daniel’s, will serve tastings from three different whiskey barrels Estancia hand-selected through its By the Barrel program. One barrel sourced in 2014, one sourced last year, and the brand new barrel Estancia selected on its recent trip to the distillery in Lynchburg, Tenn. in June. Each barrel contains unique flavor profiles based on how long it has been aging and the type of wood the barrel is made of. Can you feel the burn already?

On the sweeter end, Busch from Trinitas Cellars, a Napa Winery owned by the same family as the Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa, makes an appearance to showcase its array of irresistible red and white wines grown right here in California including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Mysteriama. Whiskey and Wine BBQ

The Southern-style menu, perfect to wash down with whiskey, bourbon and Napa Valley wines, features BBQ brisket, pulled pork mac and cheese, warm cobblers and other comfort foods. When the Estancia team was asked what they were most excited about on the menu, they highlighted the Barrel-Aged Blackberry Lavender Whiskey Mule and Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese, and Jack Daniel’s Bread Pudding a La Mode. Yum!

This event is the perfect way for wine, bourbon and whiskey enthusiasts to spend their evening. But also, it is an open door for those who need an introduction to these types of beverages. Come to this event and get a night of root tastes, fine wines and bonfire sparks whisking under a starry night.  

The Whiskey and Wine BBQ goes from 6 to 9 p.m. and is only for 21 and over. Tickets start at $105 per person, and that includes unlimited food and drink and complimentary parking. To register, click here.
