The fashion world is just coming off of its most important month of the year. During fashion month, big-name designers like Michael Kors and Givenchy debuted their Spring 2018 collections on the runways from New York to Milan. This week, San Diegans were able to take part in the fashion week experience, right here in their home city.

When Allison Andrews founded Fashion Week San Diego, she busted the misconception that San Diego isn’t fashionable wide open. This year, the event is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Over the years, FWSD has served as a launching pad for participating designers and models, who have since been picked up by heavy hitters in the industry like Vogue and Ford Models.

San Diego’s glittering skyline and shimmering bay served as the perfect backdrop for the runway shows. Throughout the weekend, 19 designers from around the world showcased their designs on an exquisite runway setup staged atop Broadway Pier. There was no shortage of star power. The shows were hosted by Jodi Kodesh and Jeff Krapf from NBC 7 and featured a performance by Hollywood Music Awards Best Female Vocalist, Elisabetta Russo. There was even a guest appearance by State Assemblyman, Todd Gloria.

San Diego designer, Paige Serrano, premiered her ‘I Am Sublime’ Fall 2018 line, which showcased a rich color palette, fringe and moody florals. Central American designer Richard Henderson’s ‘RHCreation’ line boasted bold Caribbean colored resort wear. Baza Haute Couture, established in Mexico by Miriam Baza, exhibited an elegant line of gowns comprised of tulle, lace and organza fabrics.

The event culminated on Sunday at the exclusive Hotel Del Coronado. The iconic hotel hosted the Trunk Show and Fashion Awards, where attendees could shop the designer looks straight off of the previous night’s runway. During the award ceremony, standout contributors and designers were acknowledged, such as Baza Couture, who took home the Top Designer of the Year award.

Don’t just take our word for it. Check out our highlights from Fashion Week San Diego to see why this is a can’t-miss event for next year!
