AAP-Food Samaritans was founded in 1991 as an AIDS Assistance Program in Greater Palm Springs. Flash forward to 2020, and the organization still exists––now also helping those suffering from other chronic illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. AAP-Food Samaritans distributes monthly vouchers to their clients for food, household and personal items. AAP-Food Samaritans is a nonprofit organization with a mission of “ensuring that all AAP-Food Samaritans clients can continue to live their lives with dignity and self-respect.”

Evening Under the Stars, an annual AAP-Food Samaritans fundraiser was postponed this year, just like all other public gatherings.

Today, May 5, is #GivingTuesdayNow. #GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving, created due to the damage from COVID-19. While the annual Evening Under the Stars fundraising event has been postponed, donating and lending a helping hand has not been canceled. Evening Under the Stars typically generates a tremendous amount of income for AAP-Food Samaritans, which is why they are accepting donations in replacement of the postponed event. Donations made will allow AAP-Food Samaritans to continue providing vouchers to the Coachella Valley community. All donations made will also be matched by a Chicago-based foundation.
