This may start a few traditions you’ll want to keep in the future! Easter Sunday at Home

Gourmet Takeaway Easter Sunday at Home

If a chef-prepared meal is one of your family’s Easter traditions, there’s no need to skip on that this year—order a fancy meal to-go from Fork and Knife! In response to the pandemic and an influx in takeout, Chef Jonathan Blackford has created upscale carryout meals for families to enjoy at home, and he’s got a few eggs in his basket for Easter. “Similar to Christmas, we’ll have five to six different soup/salad appetizer options, six to seven side options and one or two main course options,” he divulges. “They’ll be served cold… Everything is family-style and serves about three to four people.” Because of Fork and Knife’s careful pick-up planning and packaging, there’s no need for you to worry about how the food will travel. “We’ll include instructions on how to heat it—pick it up, follow the instructions and we’ll provide everything else for you!” Chef Blackford says. As far as dishes and ingredients go, Chef Blackford is keeping things fresh with a celebration of spring. “We’ll be seeing what’s coming in, depending on the weather,” he explains, “but I always like using snap peas, English peas, asparagus and spring mushrooms.”

The Perfect Petals

Celebrate the start of spring by dressing your table in truly spectacular floral arrangements. We’re not talking about your standard supermarket bouquets—we’re talking about an arrangement of seasonal blooms that would render anyone speechless. French Buckets, a small floral shop with locations in Lido Marina Village and Laguna Beach, has a team of uber-talented florists and artists who make the most incredible fresh and dried arrangements. We’re currently obsessed with this stunning Spring Wreath; whether you hang it on your front door or enjoy it indoors, it’s sure to brighten up your Easter festivities. We recommend calling ahead or placing an order online; then you can either pick it up in-store or have French Buckets deliver your flowers to you (so long as you’re in Orange County).

Thyme for a Drink Easter Sunday at Home

A beautiful brunch? Check. Incredible florals? Check. Let’s mix up a cocktail that’ll tie it all together! One recipe we love to make in the springtime is a strawberry and thyme Lillet spritz:

Ingredients (for two):
6 oz Lillet Blanc, chilled
4 oz prosecco or champagne, chilled
4 strawberries, thinly sliced
2 lemon wedges
Some sprigs of thyme
Crushed ice

To Make: Evenly distribute the Lillet Blanc into two glasses, followed by the juice of a lemon wedge (one wedge per glass). Then, simply add even amounts of sliced strawberries and thyme. Add around one-third of a cup of crushed ice into each glass and top with your choice of bubbly. This spritz is effervescent, herbaceous and beautifully refreshing—the perfect way to keep your spirits up throughout the celebration!

All Fun and Games Easter Sunday at Home

For households with kiddos, you’re going to want to have some fun Easter games and activities planned. You can go the traditional route by decorating hard-boiled eggs, organizing an Easter egg hunt with sweet-filled plastic eggs or pinning the fluffy cottontail on the Easter Bunny! You can also try games with festive spins, such as challenging your taste buds in a jelly bean taste test or sending older kids on an Easter egg treasure hunt that requires solving clues to find the main prize. No matter what you decide to play, we’re sure you’ll have a blast!

PSA: We know they’re adorable, but please don’t buy rabbits for cute Easter gifts unless you’re serious about keeping them as a pet. Just like any animal, keeping a bunny healthy and happy takes a lot of responsibility, and unfortunately, there’s a spike in the number of rabbits in animal shelters shortly after this holiday.
