The OC Fair wants you to get into the fair spirit for OC’s 127th annual event, which opens on July 14 and runs until Aug. 13. This year, the fair plans to focus on the county’s agricultural history with the theme “Farm Fresh Fun.” Guests are encouraged to explore the new sizzling thrills that you can find throughout this action-packed fair. Whether you watch the Knights of Valour joust in the Action Sports Arena or if you’re catching some of your favorite shows in the Pacific Amphitheatre, this year’s event allows you to experience some of the best entertainment, food and action that the OC Fair has to offer. We’ve rounded up 10 reasons why this fair is not one to miss.

  1. Chocolate, Chocolate and More Chocolate

Master chocolatier, Stéphane Tréand, will reveal trade secrets of his patisserie, chocolate and sugar. Accurately titled the “Best Craftsman in France,” Tréand will inspire our chocolate connoisseurs and teach them new and invigorating ways to improve on their sugary, guilty pleasures.

  1. Foodie Heart Stoppers

There are quite a few new additions to this year’s fairgrounds—but don’t worry! The famous and somewhat unconventional deep fried food creations will still be a prominent staple of this year’s fair. Adding onto past carnival food, there will also be a Flamin’ Hot Cheetos pizza, fried octopus on a stick, and Krispy Kreme ice cream chicken sandwiches along with various other deep-fried treats.

  1. Knight’s Tale

Join the Knights of Valour as they show you how to master the art of jousting with the honor and dignity of a knight. They will be showing off their skills of full-contact jousting in the Action Sports Arena, so don’t forget to stop by and watch some of the best!

  1. Paper Wonderland

Among this year’s additions, artist Kiel Johnson is creating an inspiring urban community garden with one catch—it will be the world’s largest garden made out of construction paper. “I want this to be a collaborative project where people come in and add pieces to it to make a beautiful thing,” said Johnson. Here, guests will be able to create fruits, vegetables and flowers, as well as walk among this collaborative paper garden.

  1. This Little Piggy Went to the Races

The Minivan Mashup Demolition Derby will be making its debut as some of our favorite minivans go at it on the battlefield. The All-Alaskan Racing Pigs will also be coming back to make an appearance as your favorite pigs race across the finish line as guests cheer on their porky little friends to win the title of success.

  1. The Sweet Side

Some other sweeter treats include mini donut sundaes, gelato donut sandwiches and a Unicorn Nitro Pop. This year’s fair isn’t holding back; there will also be chocolate chip cookies in a bucket and even non-dairy Dippin’ Dots!

  1. Laugh Till You Drop

Some fair favorites will be coming back this time around and will be bringing laughter to guests of all ages. The favored comedy hypnotist, Mark Yuzuik, will take you to another world on stage as he hypnotizes some select guests. Be sure to stay on your toes as Yuzuik takes you through this hypnotic experience filled with laughter—and some friendly embarrassment.

  1. Get Your Kombucha Fix

Staying away from the fried food? Fermentation Farm will be hosting an event that allows guests to interact and learn about the rising trends in the health industry—plus there will be samples of Kombucha!

  1. Put Your Game Face On

Of course, the fair wouldn’t be as spectacular without a video gaming competition. iBUYPOWER GameFest will be hosting a competition and expo for those of you that are “in the know” on all the new and high-tech games. Bring your competitive spirit for this event; you won’t want to miss it!

  1. Sing Your Heart Out

Don’t miss the chance to experience your favorite bands at the Pacific Amphitheatre with acts like Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw! Head to The Hangar where there will be some tribute concerts and some famous artists. Bring your excitement and cheers for some of these incredible creators.
