Hanging out at the pool is a favorite pastime of visitors to Greater Palm Springs, and for guests at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa, this now includes floating in the 450-foot lazy river, zooming down dueling 30-foot waterslides and enjoying seven expansive pools.

The four-star resort, set against the backdrop of palm trees and iconic mountain views, recently completed a $21 million renovation, which includes the HyTides Plunge Waterpark, Desert Twist Lazy River and kids’ splash area with water features and a third slide for those who don’t meet the waterpark’s 48-inch height requirement.

“Guests can expect an elevated pool experience,” says Lisa Luna, director of marketing for the Hyatt Regency. “All of our pools are cooled or heated, depending on the time of year, making it a truly year-round destination.”

In addition to the waterpark, renovations can be seen throughout the resort—an updated hotel lobby, reimagined dining spaces and redesigned meeting rooms. “This renovation is a game-changer for the property and offers our guests even more enhanced experiences,” explains Luna.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hyatt Regency has taken precautionary measures to ensure that guests can safely enjoy the resort’s attractions. Strategic distancing is used throughout the pool area, including safely distanced pool chairs that are cleaned regularly with a sprayer. “The safety of our guests and colleagues is our top priority,” Luna says. “We’re really focused on cleanliness and sanitation so that our guests feel comfortable throughout their stay.”

Beyond the pools, COVID-19 protocols include moving to contactless check-in and purchases, capping occupancy so that guests can comfortably distance and sanitizing high-touch surfaces at least once per hour. Luna also shared that many families are opting to stay in one of the resort’s 43 villas. These individual casitas offer a private and distanced experience right near the pools, and each villa has its own grill for family barbecues.

The Hyatt Regency is one of four hotels that make up the Indian Wells Golf Resort. “This really is a premier destination with something for everyone, and with the new waterpark, there’s never been a better time to visit,” Luna says. “We’re finding that adults have just as much fun in the waterpark as kids do!”
