Laguna Beach Actor Performs in National Tour of Finding Neverland

Segerstrom Center for the Arts Hosts Finding Neverland with Local Noah Plomgren as Lord Cannon

Finding Neverland opens tonight, March 21, at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. And we’re proud to share that an Orange County local will be on stage to represent as the posh Lord Cannon, Noah Plomgren.

He’s originally from Laguna Beach, but now lives an actor’s life in New York when he’s not on the road. “I don’t make it home often, but when I do, I love just walking around town and seeing old friends and relaxing,” Plomgren says. “New York is very very very fast paced, so when I come home, I like to soak in the serenity of Laguna and relax.” He enjoys reading and finding new restaurants whenever possible, wherever he is.

Being part of a traveling show has its challenges for Plomgren because he misses his family and friends. He tries different ways to make each of his hotel rooms feel a bit homey. While he often feels homesick, he also realizes the opportunities of seeing new places that touring has given him—it’s one of his favorite aspects of being on tour. “[I’m] constantly on [my] toes performing in a new theater in a new city in a new neighborhood, and I’ve been able to see some really cool parts of the country. It really is a blast and I’m having the time of my life on the road.”

Plomgren grew up participating in a great deal of community theater. He started at the age of five, and hasn’t stopped since. “Constantly performing growing up really worked the acting muscle for me and gave me great training and preparation for the professional world,” he says. “I ended up studying at Carnegie Mellon University and getting my BFA in acting and musical theater there, which was a major springboard into the professional [acting] world.”

Since local roles at Laguna Beach High School and Laguna Playhouse, Plomgren has landed various regional roles in shows like Noises Off, Guys and Dolls, Titanic, Lend Me A Tenor; and national tours with Hair (as Claude) and now with Finding Neverland as Lord Cannon.

Finding Neverland is the Broadway musical that showcases the relationship between playwright J.M. Barrie and the family that inspired Peter Pan. Lord Cannon comes into play as the upper-class man who has an affair with Barrie’s wife, Mary.
