Landers Makes Its Way to San Clemente With Stiff Drinks and Vintage Goods

This “Spanish Village By the Sea” Is About to Get a Taste of the Wild, Wild West

Costa Mesa’s favorite neighborhood bar is making its way down south, as Landers Liquor Bar and Supply House has plans to open a second location in San Clemente this May. Expect those Wild West vibes and nothing but good times! Landers San Clemente

The second location will live in an old Spanish-style building that was originally an aquarium back in 1933. There’s an outdoor patio with an unobstructed ocean view that seats up to 60 guests. President and CEO Chance Owen explains that the Costa Mesa location has recently been exceeding sales, and with the stars aligning in a number of different ways, this transition into a second space was “like it was supposed to happen.” Owen explains his good fortune further by saying, “I couldn’t figure out why this building was available!”

San Clemente epitomizes a surf town community and is in need of a bar concept that caters to a different demographic. And Landers offers just that. The trendy storefront and bar ooze a rugged Western feel that strays far from OC’s typical apres surf spots.

This new San Clemente location features a few differences from the original Costa Mesa space. Landers Supply House and Liquor Bar will be housed under one roof, so the vibe is really all encompassed with a dine, drink and shop aspect. “When you walk in, you’ll find yourself under the high-pitched octagon oval dome with a skylight; the bar sits in the middle (which seats 24 people) and the store surrounds that along with the seating of the restaurant that spans out to the patio,” Owen says.

Owen explains how he’s always been inspired by an interactive retail experience that offers something different—along the lines of American Rag and Fred Segal in Los Angeles. “We wanted to make Landers a reason to go other than just to have some food,” Owen says. This new San Clemente Landers location is just that!

We can’t wait to put on our cowboy boots and head in for a Pomona Street cocktail.
