LOCALE’s Modernism Week Launch Party
Let’s be honest: it’s not really a party if there isn’t a killer menu! Taste some of the most popular dishes and local favorites from Greater Palm Springs restaurants like Chula Eatery, Twenty6, Stuft Pizza and Morgan’s in the desert. Chula Eatery will be serving up white corn and queso fritters, avocado shrimp cocktail and pulled pork sopes, while Twenty6 will be bringing its delectable pan-seared sea scallops with spinach puree and oyster mushrooms. Be sure to keep an eye out for the tomato bruschetta and ahi poke bites from Stuft Pizza as well as the date-braised short rib with stone-ground polenta from Morgan’s in the desert!
Clink and sip! We’re celebrating not only the launch of our Greater Palm Springs February issue, but kicking off the start of Modernism Week! Enjoy a complimentary Lillet Spritz made with Lillet Blanc and tonic, as well as a full bar stocked with your favorite spirits. Be sure to try the Thyme After Thyme with Hendricks Gin or the Latin Groove with Milagro Silver. For lighter sips, try a cold Modelo or Corona beer or a chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon or pinot noir from Wente Vineyards.
Modernism Week isn’t just the event of the year, it’s also a nonprofit that works 365 days a year to educate, preserve and help sustain the midcentury architecture and design that has become so synonymous with the Palm Springs lifestyle. In addition to the annual Modernism Week events, they also provide scholarships to students of architecture and design, as well as help support local preservation groups throughout the state.
Go back to the ‘50s—a time before CD players, Apple Music and Spotify—when dinner and dancing was accompanied by the live vocals of a talented singer, and dinner parties lasted until the wee hours of the morning. Here, dance the night away to the music of Rose Mallett Trio, a local jazz singer who specializes in making your heart flutter and feet move.
Location, location, location! An adage just as true now as it was in Palm Springs’ Hollywood heyday. Sprawled over the palatial property of La Quinta Resort & Club, this party holds nothing back, offering you the glitz and glamour of the Waldorf Astoria resort paired with the best Modernism Week has to offer.
