The arts are imperative to education, and thanks to the support of donors, corporations and alumni, the newly renovated Lyceum Theater at Vanguard University collected $650,000. The money raised helped give the theatre a complete face lift to add must-haves including a backstage dressing room, guest bathrooms and a multi-purpose space for activities like costume design and prop building. Lyceum Theater

“This marks a new chapter for the department and its patrons,” Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts at Vanguard University, Susan Berkompas said in a press release. “The growth of the Theatre Arts program—increased audiences, enrolled students, and degree courses—placed extraordinary demands on the theatre, but this renovation enables the department to attract the most talented students, faculty and theatre patrons.”

One of the three Christian college theatre programs in the nation to be accredited by the National Association Schools of Theatres (NAST), Vanguard’s theatre students have received recognition in both regional and national theatre competitions. With such talented people involved, it’s no wonder that each play season, the five main stage productions draw over 10,000 patrons to their doors. Lyceum Theater

To celebrate the opening of the newly built theatre, a private ribbon cutting ceremony was held on March 3 with the spring musical making its public debut shortly after. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, a classic romance musical, was brought to the new Lyceum Theater stage complete with praiseworthy dance routines and original songs.

Get ready Orange County and keep your eyes peeled for the next show! With incredible acting and a brand new stage, this is going to be one venue you’ll want to experience. Lyceum Theater
