Calling all gents! Opening Day at Del Mar is just over a week away and with over 400, 000 people expected to attend, you better be ready to look your best! Now, if you still haven’t figured out what to wear and all you have in your summer wardrobe are board shorts and t-shirts, there’s no need to panic. From casual cool to fearlessly bold, we shopped local and put together four Opening Day-ready looks that will have you looking dapper and picture perfect in the event of photobombing a photo finish.

Nothing Short of Stylish

Fit and Proportion are key when incorporating shorts into a dressier look. This pair of lobster colored shorts from Bonobos are perfect for dressing up, because of their more tailored fit and just above the knee length. Balance the bright colored bottoms with a cool indigo chambray shirt and since it’s Opening Day and everyone should look like a million bucks, top it all off with a crisp, white blazer.

Dapper in Denim

We love taking a casual piece of clothing and wearing it in a more formal way. This denim jacket from Levi’s is one of our favorites and it pairs beautifully with a white button up shirt, a knitted tie, and a pair of light blue chinos from Bonobos — the masters of the perfectly fitting pants. To add a pop of color and take the look up a notch, accessorize it with a pocket square of your liking.

No Jacket, No Problem!

We get it; some guys don’t like wearing suits but don’t you dare show up to one of Southern California’s most chic summertime events in just a plain old t-shirt! For those who prefer a more casual look, we love this white polo with navy blue accents from Zara because of its vintage inspired design and effortless style. Pair the polo with some navy blue chinos, a pair of monk strap shoes, a straw fedora and you’ll be ready to go!

Monsieur Debonair

Menswear can sometimes feel a bit too safe, so mix it up by fearlessly wearing prints in unexpected places. These limited edition palm print chinos from Bonobos are the perfect way to make yourself stand out in a crowd. We paired them with a white button-up shirt, also from Bonobos, and a nautical-inspired, navy blue double breasted jacket from Zara. We love a touch of unexpected, so rather than doing a tie we went with a neckerchief instead. Give the “most interesting man in the world” a run for his money and try out this look!
