Furthering our claims of an ‘Endless Summer’ in San Diego, KAABOO Del Mar rounds out the season with a stellar lineup of bands, artists, comedians and a weekend of non-stop fun. In addition to the “mix-perience” that is all the things KAABOO stands for, they’ve added an impressive culinary cast and a top notch list of San Diego eateries that is sure to bring foodies flocking from all over California and beyond.
KAABOO PALATE has elevated its sophomore event by relocating the stage portion of last years food festivities outdoors to provide better viewing and a larger gathering area. Live music will play in the background and the scent of mouthwatering eats will waft through the air. In addition to the new outdoor LOCALE Magazine PALATE Stage and the indoor food mecca, there will be an impressive amount of pop-up food vendors spread throughout Del Mar Fairgrounds providing everything from burgers to coffee to desserts. Dylan’s Candy Bar will be on site, fully stocked and accommodating KAABOO attendees in need of a sugar rush. In addition to good grub and sweet treats, KAABOO has included special libations from craft distilleries, exclusive wineries and local San Diego craft breweries. There will be keep-cool delights aplenty in forms of gelatos, creameries, craft milkshakes and handcrafted liqueur-infused ice creams from Momenti Spirited. KAABOO PALATE is sure to cater to everyone’s tastes with some top SoCal restos peddling everything your delectable dreams are made of – Italian food, Mexican food, sandwiches, sushi, BBQ, pizza, ramen, Baja cuisine from Chef Javier Plascencia and much more. At last year’s inaugural weekend Chefs Roll presented the stage audience an all-star “dream team” that put some of San Diego’s top chefs up against one another in the Rock’n Chef Competition – a one hour chef showdown where winners go head-to-head, with the finale winner being chosen by a panel of expert judges – including Certified Master Chef Ferdinand Metz, Sam The Cooking Guy and professional food writer Candice Woo. This years judges will include San Diego’s very own MasterChef season 6 winner Claudia Sandoval, Top Chef contestant Giselle Wellman and last years reigning “Rock’n Chef KAABOO” champion, esteemed Two Star Michelin Chef Jason McLeod. Food Network star Troy Johnson will once again emcee the event, giving us his play by play and critique, paired with his laugh-out-loud-worthy sense of humor.
(Side Note: watching Troy on stage for a few hours is worth the price of your weekend pass, trust me!)
As if the food scene at KAABOO wasn’t thrilling enough already, they’ve added an impeccable collection of celebrity chefs and culinary industry giants to the LOCALE Magazine PALATE Stage. Throughout the three-day weekend some big time chefs will wow the crowd with surprise music performances, give live cooking demonstrations, provide tips and tricks and will hang out with fans at meet and greets. In the coming weeks, KAABOO PALATE will be announcing additional names to their already buzz-worthy squad, but we’re already excited enough with this list of names that is sure to have any #ChefGroupie planning their entire day at KAABOO Del Mar around all the PALATE happenings.
