1 | The Venue Sushi Bar & Sake Lounge Palm Springs Foodie

Must-Order: El Paseo Specialty Roll

We top off our trip with creative sushi dishes at The Venue Sushi Bar & Sake Lounge. But make no mistake: the Venue is not your average sushi restaurant. There are many delightful surprises for first-time visitors (from fresh takes on classic Japanese dishes, to exotic specialty cocktails), and the Venue is also well known to locals as the spot to gather.

Who says you have to go for something different when you can return to the classics such as Acqua California Bistro’s Signature Meatloaf? Known for their award-winning breakfast, the bistro is serving up plenty of dishes worth trying no matter the time of day. Make sure to save room for dessert—the Floating Island is their award-winning, classic French dessert!

3 | Eight4Nine

Must-Order: Grilled Scottish Steelhead

Our next stop on this palatable extravaganza was a dining essential in Palm Springs, the ever-unique Eight4Nine. The eclectic décor is as daring as their dishes and I couldn’t have asked for more. I could go on and on about the mouth-watering dishes that made my heart sing, but what really stood out was the Grilled Scottish Steelhead.

Native Knowledge: Eight4Nine was cast into the national spotlight when the “Shahs of Sunset” filmed there, helping make Eight4Nine one of the go-to destinations in Palm Springs.

Before I even sat down at Workshop Kitchen + Bar, this former theatre was scoring major points on everything from their huge communal dining table to their cutlery. But let’s be honest, we’re here to eat and eat we did. I like to consider myself somewhat of a French fry aficionado—no big deal—and I concur they knocked it out of the park with the Duck Fat Fries.

5 | Counter Reformation

Must-Order: Grilled Prawns

Just walking into the Counter Reformation, you know you are in for a special experience. Put together by one of my favorite designers, Jonathan Adler, this cozy, evening spot is devoted to rare wines and delectable small plates. All the dishes I tried were scrumptious, but the one I found most impressive was the Grilled Prawns.

Native Knowledge: The entrance door to Counter Reformation and the vestibule inside at the end of the counter actually came from a church in Italy!

It’s all about the bacon and I’m all about Cheeky’s! This super comfy little spot has perfected the most important meal of the day, and although I think that is every meal, they certainly take breakfast to the next level.

7 | Rooster and The Pig

Must-Order: Panko-Crusted Chicken Stuffed Rice Ball

Next, we headed to Rooster and The Pig. Now, I have to admit that, although I am generally a fan of exotic spices, I have had a small hesitancy towards curry in the past. For shame, I know, but fear not because after tasting the coconut curry rice ball, you can now consider this girl a curry fanatic.

Native Knowledge: The owner of Rooster and The Pig, Tai Spendley, sold his house using every bit of his finances to open the restaurant. Being on a budget, Spendley built all the tables in the dining room and the huge shelving display that covers one side of the restaurant.

We made a stop at La Quinta Cliffhouse Grill & Bar where their house specialities are their meats—pork, chicken, beef, the whole shebang! Once you get a taste of their Braised Boneless Beef Short Ribs, you won’t be able to taste any other short ribs the same way again. Many of their food options are gluten-free, so it’s a win for everyone!
