The open-air venue rests upon the third floor of Pendry San Diego, a stately construction that occupies nearly two-thirds of the block. It’s only logical that an establishment with such a bold presence would have an equally daring rooftop deck. And by daring, we mean that the rooftop deck effortlessly steps out in the simplicity of its clean, cool and refined ambiance and decor.

Get ‘Em While They’re Hot

An assortment of day beds, cabanas and poolside seating options wrap around the rectangular pool and adjacent hot tub. Since reservations of seats can be made online, the accessibility of this venue encourages attendance at this summer’s pool party series that Locale is proud to be partners with.

A New Kind of Party

The series’ presentation will show off a new class of pool party that downtown has yet to see. Guests will enjoy pop up surprises from DJ’s around the world and surprise celebrity guests. Guests will experience Pool House Sundays, a European-style pool party, complete with tropical beats and vocal house.

A Step Up

And who are these guests? The elevated character of the deck attracts a crowd that has grown tired of a deck covered in last night’s confetti. Here, the party begins at 5 p.m. and runs until late, making this an evening that’s in no rush to reach the apex of the night.

Sips and Bites

As for food and bevvies, the menu features the best sellers of the downstairs restaurant, Lionfish, and upstairs Pool House. On the menu, created by Chef Jose “JoJo” Ruiz, you’ll taste a cuisine that’s inspired by its proximity to the coast and south of the border, Mexico-land. Try the Tajin Seared Albacore, Spicy Grilled Octopus or the Duck Confit Tostadas. The small plate nature of the menu, including drinks that come in pitchers, ultimately creates a shareable atmosphere that effortlessly promotes your interaction with the third floor community.

And from the bar that’s tucked away beneath the guest rooms, you’ll find a refined menu of craft cocktails and beer, plus sparkling wine based drinks that are called ‘Refreshers.’ The bar’s happy hour, #socialhourSD, is a competitive happy hour that boasts half off drinks, appetizers and $1 oysters from 5-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Choose to sip on a mule or a frozen drink for one of the hotter days of summer.

Come One, Come All

The Pool House is open daily 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for hotel and spa guests only, and is then open to the public for social gatherings, like Rooftop Social and Pool House Sundays.

All About Connections

Pendry San Diego’s Pool House, Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisines and Oxford Social Club are all connected by an elevator that’s accessible off of Fifth Avenue. This means that non-hotel guests get to access their preferred destination in a blink of an eye.

Homerun: The Pool House is just a stone’s throw away from the ballpark and so people can catch a daytime game and then walk to the deck to round out their evening.
