Expanding across the nation every month, Pure Barre is the most widespread and established barre franchise in the United States. With the slogan “lift, tone, burn, ” instructors at Pure Barre believe all clients are stronger than they think, and together they work hard to help everyone reach their full potential. Each class is an exciting high intensity workout driven by a playlist of powerful music—fun in the moment and felt in the morning. Pure Barre opened up their Palm Desert location in February before throwing a stellar Grand Opening bash on April 21.

Pure Barre Palm Desert is co-owned by mother/daughter team Nancy and Anna Meisler, who greeted Grand Opening guests with friendly welcomes and studio info. A Barre instructor and veteran herself, Anna shared her love for the variety of classes offered through the different combinations of exercises in every class. The lobby décor is creatively industrial chic, with piping and aged wood used as a backdrop, then splashed with a gorgeous red for color. For the event, all of the high-end workout apparel was discounted, and a raffle was held for a chance to win one month of unlimited classes, a private “barre-ty” class for up to fifteen, or a basket of Pure Barre goodies.

Heading into the studio itself, it is obvious that Pure Barre is unlike any workout establishment. In addition to the decorations specifically for the Grand Opening including balloons and a photo booth with props by Depiction, everything is stunning. Ceiling to floor mirrors line two walls and bars line both sides of the room, similar to a ballet studio. The bar isn’t for ballet, however. It serves as a balance for what Pure Barre calls the Shake Zone, aka the point in a workout “where you sink an inch lower, close your eyes, and change your body.” The carpet is cozy, perfect for feet comforted by the signature colorful Pure Barre non-slip socks, and the lighting is unlike the usual blinding fluorescence of a gym. Instead, it is the relaxing hue of a spa.

As for the Grand Opening itself, the event did not disappoint. Guests were offered delicious hors-d’oeuvres courtesy of Katherine King Special Events & Catering, such as fig and goat cheese flatbread, layered bruschetta with freshly homemade lemon ricotta, and sticky toffee pudding. Each bite-sized delight was catered to those eager to keep their hard-earned Pure Barre figure. An assortment of beers and wines were also available to guests, from Coors Light to a light William Hill cabernet sauvignon. The perfect combo for food and drink, shopping was around for temptation. The must-have Pura Vida bracelets were available for purchase, as well as fashionable barre apparel from Alo, Beyond Yoga, Splits 59 and Pure Barre.

Guests of the Pure Barre’s Grand Opening Event were dressed to impress, ladies donning colorful dresses and springy skirts; the gentlemen remained in more business-casual outfits with button-ups and jeans. Everyone fluttered about the room, Pure Barre veterans speaking highly of the classes and newcomers admiring the stunning black and white photographs taken during Barre sessions. Many flocked to the photo booth, sporting shutter shades, bunny ears and whatever else the prop table had to offer, while others preferred taking group selfies near the photographs. It’s safe to say that Pure Barre is going to be a big hit in the desert.
