Sayonara, summer. It’s been real. You gave me balmy nights, salty hair don’t care, and a nice bronze that will probably last another week or so until I go back to my vampire-like, natural skin tone. The one thing I wish I would have refused from you was the barbecues filled with sugary treats, carb-heavy hotdog buns and enough margaritas to flood the Grand Canyon. My skinny jeans are ready and waiting for the temps to drop enough to be of good use, but unfortunately my waistline has other plans—see you soon, stretchy pants.

But like a light at the end of the calorie-filled tunnel, Pure Barre in OC is coming in for the save. They are the deus ex machina to my uphill battle to get back in shape. They are rolling out their newly-minted Pure Reform classes that aim to target, sculpt and tighten all the major muscle groups through the use of resistance-based training. If you’re like me and tried—more like failed—to use resistance bands at home, Pure Barre will walk you through it all in a calorie-torching, 50-minute class. Incorporating Pure Barre Classic moves with resistance bands and slides, Pure Reform kicks up the muscular training factor to improve balance and coordination.

As we prepare for nights spent at home binging on Netflix and pizza, the class’ focus on alignment and intentional movement will come in handy while you move to the curated playlists chock full of energetic and motivational music. And it will boost your endorphins, fighting off SAD—seasonal affective disorder—so you can work through the shorter days with a pep in your step.
