Saturday’s invitation-only event rolled out a series of new watches from the Rolex Baselworld 2018 collection. While the five new watches debuted in March, the collection’s national tour commenced with a stop in Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza. With devoted clientele, South Coast Plaza was the prime location for the private event where 150 guests had an exclusive opportunity to view and try these wristwatches in all their luxurious and refined glory.

When entering the brightly lit boutique, guests were greeted by Rolex personnel standing behind watch display cases and waiters carrying trays of drinks and appetizers from AnQi. Attendees perused the watchcases and picked which models they wanted to see close up while enjoying glasses of wine and morsels of food like tombo tuna tacos, goat cheese tartlets and more. Each guest was personally attended to by an employee who provided them with specifications and details about each watch. Guests admired the look and feel of the watches against their wrists and ultimately decided on which pieces they wished to purchase.

The new models in the Baselworld 2018 collection include the GMT-Master II, DateJust36, DateJust31, Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona and Rolex Deepsea. According to a Rolex employee, she believes that the most anticipated watches from the Baselworld collection are the DateJust36 and GMT-Master II. The new 36 mm case DateJust36 is a new version of the original 1945 watch and maintains its classic look and elegance by coming in two different Oystersteel and 18 ct gold options: Everose Rolesor and yellow Rolesor. The GMT-Master II, a watch which displays the time of two different time zones simultaneously, arrives with a high calibre 3285 and new looks in Everose gold; Oystersteel and Everose gold; and its iconic Oystersteel with a red and blue ceramic insert on a Jubilee bracelet. Other notable features in the collection include the new version of the colorful 18 ct Everose gold Cosmograph Daytona, which has 36 rainbow hued sapphires on the bezel and the DateJust31, which has a calibre 2236 as well as a version made specifically for women with mother of pearl butterflies on the watch face.

With the five models coming in different colors and styles, there is truly something for everyone—especially with the Rolex Baselworld collection being comprised of updates of classic wristwatches with stylish designs. Imbued with innovative technology for functionality and stunning metals and stones for design, these new Baselworld 2018 watches are the perfect accessory to any look and lifestyle.

Native Knowledge: Designed for professional divers, the new Rolex Deepsea has a 44 mm case, a new calibre 3235, and a 60-minute black ceramic insert on the bezel that helps divers monitor time easily.
