The Palm Springs Revitalization project—a decade in the making—will include a half-acre Downtown park with an events area, water feature, shade and outdoor gallery. The six block regeneration includes high-end retailers such as West Elm, Mac and H & M, to name a few as well as, renowned restaurants.  Il Corso, Tommy Bahama and Stout Burger opening after the first of the new year.   The highly anticipated Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel serves as the anchor to the development with the first rooftop hotel in the Coachella Valley; opening Nov. 15, 2017.

When visiting rooftop hotels with attributes such as top floor pools, bars, cabanas, restaurant, private event space and bars, they are quite a sight to see! The grand entrance of The Rowan Hotel is a stunning oasis for tourists looking to stay in a uniquely trendy spot, yet an intimate enough setting enveloped by the serene view of the San Jacinto mountains.

The Rowan, which is managed by Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, continues its work in a historical line of “boutique-style” hotels, known as the innovator of stylish design and intimate hotel spaces with a home-like feel. Bill Kimpton initiated this unique idea of graciousness and passion in creating “authentic personal experiences” for guests as their most valued service point. A diverse staff is hired to take on efforts of having people feel instantly at home the entire time of their visit. The daily operations are headed by General Manager Abe Liao. The establishment will hold seven floors that encompass a total of 153 rooms, two restaurants and three bars, one restaurant and two bars being exclusively on the rooftop.

As you enter the lobby, you’ll view the Window Bar with a fabulous set of bookshelves filled to the brim with materials for your reading pleasure. To the opposite side is the front desk reception, leading the way to the first floor’s Juniper Table café. In the midst is a edgy, yet sleek staircase heading up to the second level, which includes the Sky Ballroom with a contemporary look and details like motorcycle pipes as wall lights, is 2,300 square foot in size and holds up to 200 people for receptions. The Jasper Boardroom sits up to 18 guests comfortably with a view out to the Palm Springs Art Museum and a super-sized 90-inch flat screen TV.

As you tour the property, some distinct details will stand out, such as hand-painted tiles on the walls throughout, giving it a colorful appeal. There are a variety of guest rooms lined with signature floor-to-ceiling windows, giving you a sense you’re in mid-flight as you look out to the skyline scenery of abundant palm trees and mountainous terrain for miles and miles.

The deluxe rooms have style and originality with tiled headboards and cooling tones of blue, gray and white, comfortable seating, and in some cases with window-to-room showers and balconies. The Arlo Suite, the Rowan’s version of the presidential suite, spans the entire width of the hotel with its double-door grand entrance and all-inclusive views. You’ll have an abundance of choices to relax or play in this 2,500-square-foot suite with pool table, balconies, 73-square-foot sized shower and elegant soaking tub facing a window view to the city!

Two restaurants will enliven the atmosphere with outdoor patio seating and mouth-watering dishes. The first floor’s Juniper Table features mostly Mediterranean fare with convenient, healthy “grab and go” items, as well as freshly baked breads. At the 4 Saints’ rooftop restaurant, you’ll be greeted as you enter into an expansive area with  more floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Downtown park area. The conceptual design includes a palm tree grove, fountain and the 26-foot Forever Marilyn statue rumored to be making its way back to the desert as its permanent home!

4 Saints will encompass a four-sided bar, marble countertop and rustic and brass liquor shelving that will seat up to 30 customers. The restaurant has internationally inspired ingredients to incorporate global cuisine with a strong French influence, presided over by Executive Chef Stephen Wambach, formerly of the Four Seasons in Chicago.

You will find daybeds aligned with canopied misters, and up to six rental cabanas (two provided with television, a safe and fans) at the pool area and High Bar situated on the tallest rooftop. The High Bar will accommodate up to 16 guests and 30 at the fire pit lounge.

A few more highlighted amenities to consider are: rooftop yoga classes, complimentary sunset social hour, Saturday morning hikes and the Jacinto event space available for private parties. It’s a safe bet to say if you’re looking for a relaxed, fantasy getaway with the elegance of the classic ‘50s era, yet with an urban twist, you are sure to enjoy The Rowan Palm Springs that’s in the heart of it all, at this alluring and innovative desert oasis in Downtown Palm Springs!
