There’s no better way to celebrate the Rams’ return to Los Angeles than with a bash with Rams cheerleaders and NFL alums in attendance, waterfront views, and champagne. On Sunday, Oct. 2, Shade Hotel Redondo Beach celebrated phase one of its grand opening celebrations in partnership with the LA Rams Legends Community and LA Rams Foundation.
“We are excited to partner with the Rams Legends Community and Rams Foundation for our pre-opening celebration, ” says Hotel Owner Michael Zislis. “Welcoming home our beloved NFL team and hosting dedicated fans for a good cause at our newest Shade hotel is an honor.”
A stunning waterfront marina set the stage for Zislis and Rams Legend Rosey Grier to lead the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony, with an “Amen!” from Grier and cheers from the crowd. This is a long-awaited opening, seeing as there were at least seven months of setbacks preventing Shade from opening its doors. With this first phase complete, the 54-room hotel is on its way to being a go-to luxury getaway of Redondo Beach. This is the second luxury boutique hotel of the Zislis Group Shade brand.
Attendees were able to meet and mingle with Grier and other Rams legends like Az Hakim, Dennis Harrah, and Nolan Cromwell over tasty appetizers and bubbly atop the beautiful deck of the hotel while watching the NFL team take on the Cardinals on various monitors throughout the two-story event. (And the Rams won, 17-13, by the way. #GoRams!)
The silent auction boasted various signed NFL, NHL, NBA, and MLB sports memorabilia from the likes of Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry, and more! VIP tickets were $250 with red carpet opportunities and open bar; and general admission tickets were $100. All proceeds from the grand opening event benefitted the LA Rams Foundation.
