From the outside, an eye-catching porte cochère frames the lobby entrance, crafted with exposed wood beams and the same stone used in the renovations of the neighboring mission. Step inside and you’ll find a commissioned painting printed on Walker Zanger custom-made tiles, a hand-sculpted swallows inlay, a custom acrylic mural, a collection of historic photographs and more.

In addition to the 118 hacienda-inspired guest rooms with seven suites and villas, the hotel boasts seven luxury suites and three residential-style villas. Inn at the Mission’s on-site coffeehouse features freshly baked pastries, La Colombe craft coffee, locally made gelato and grab-and-go goods. The cafe offers guests and locals an authentic neighborhood coffee shop experience and makes for the perfect one-stop shop before exploring the town of San Juan Capistrano. Cafe at the Mission also offers a signature Draft Latte program along with its curated menu of classic coffee beverages. 6 | Wine n’ Dine at Ysidora

When it’s time to eat, Ysidora Restaurant and Lounge serves up traditional Spanish dishes with a twist—each one is made with regionally sourced ingredients. Feast on tapas like the tomato gazpacho and Patatas Bravas at Ysidora Restaurant and move on to entrees like the Tomahawk Steak and Seafood Paella. But be sure to leave room for something sweet because Ysidora’s postres are out of this world. Think dulce de leche, vegan chocolate cake and apple cinnamon churros!

Local Insight: After you’re done savoring a variety of wood-fired meats, vegetables and delicious tapas, venture out to the Olive Grove for a fireside evening under the twinkling lanterns.

 

7 | Surrounded by History

Inn at the Mission offers guests a glimpse into the historic traditions of San Juan Capistrano, which date back to the founding of its mission in 1776. Take in views of the neighboring Ruins of the Great Stone Church from one of the luxury suites or from the property’s on-site spa. Throughout the hotel, you’ll notice colorful custom-made tiling, rich fabrics and rustic elements that reflect the rich history of San Juan Capistrano. Olive trees can be seen throughout the property, which not only provide shade, but also the resort’s Reverence Private Label EVOO. This custom-blend of olive oil is produced in partnership with California-grown Nuvo Oil. Guests can partake in an olive oil tasting experience during the check-in process at the front desk, and can even purchase a bottle to take home.

Local Insight: Indulge in a signature “el salt real” olive oil body scrub at the spa, which puts the fruits of these beautiful trees’ labor to use!

Guests can check out bikes at the resort, which is a perk that’s included in the hotel destination fee. This is a great way to explore the city of San Juan Capistrano and other nearby destinations like Dana Point Harbor.
