Written By: LOCALE Editors hospitality GoFundMe Coronavirus

These are unexpected and uncertain times for everyone. Local businesses are having to make the tough decision to close their doors and temporarily furlough or layoff employees. This is the case at local restaurant SOCIAL Costa Mesa and SOCIAL Huntington Beach. Andrew Dorsey, owner of SOCIAL Costa Mesa and SOCIAL Huntington Beach is stepping up and fighting back to make a difference.

Dorsey has created a GoFundMe with the goal of raising $75,000 and committing to “serving those who serve us.” Starting April 1st, all unemployed or furloughed hospitality employees, and all frontline workers, will receive the SOCIAL Drive Thru Burger & Fries, Brussels sprouts, bottled water and toilet paper. Stop by SOCIAL Costa Mesa Thursday through Saturday from 4-8:30 p.m. and show your pay stub if this applies to you. They will be enforcing the six-foot social distancing rule during this process.

To donate, support and share Dorsey’s GoFundMe initiative, click this link. Other ways you can contribute are by ordering take out from SOCIAL Costa Mesa and other local restaurants to keep them in business. Dorsey wants to ensure when their restaurant reopens once again, it’s with the same management and team as before.

In these tough times, our community has the opportunity to come together and lend a helping hand to one another. We’re in this together.
