How Much Do We Love Downtown Grand? Let us Count the Ways

Written By: Erik Hale Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino

Do you remember your first trip to Las Vegas? What stood out to you?  For me, it was the bright lights and neon signs, 99 cent biscuits and gravy breakfasts, slot machines, and room prices that my parents could afford. My first trip to Las Vegas was with my parents nearly 30 years ago, when I was only 16. I remember my dad driving down Fremont Street while my brother and I fought for space on the backseat window to smash our faces against and stare up at the neon lights.

Las Vegas has changed so much since then. The light bulbs were replaced with LEDs, the giant neon signs were retired to a graveyard, the 99 cent breakfasts gave way to $700 bottle service and for a clean room you might have to dip into your 401(k).

The Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino is the newest hotel in Downtown Las Vegas and everything about it reminds me of that first trip. The neon signs have been restored to their previous glory and now grace the skies of East Fremont Street nearby. There’s amazing comfort food options (from a celebrity chef) that won’t break the bank and clean, modern rooms that leave money in your checking account to spend on more important things — like slot machines.

The Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino is home to Downtown Las Vegas’ premier and the coolest rooftop pool and party. You won’t find your typical eardrum popping EDM here, rather the vibe is chill and energetic. Imagine private cabanas, cocktails made with fresh ingredients growing right on the roof in garden boxes, and an all new menu created by Chef Scott Commings (the winner of “Hell’s Kitchen” from Season 12). The infinity pool, set against the backdrop of classic Las Vegas, has sunshine all day as the pool is never shaded.
