You’ve got that last one covered, so let Tavern House Kitchen + Bar in Newport Beach check off the rest. This picturesque restaurant on Newport Harbor features a cozy, familiar atmosphere with its polished wood and stone interior. 1 | Views on Views

Whether it’s a brunch date with your honey or a celebration with your girl gang, make sure to grab a seat near Tavern House’s large floor-to-ceiling windows where you’ll get a full view of the boats in the harbor. Or, maybe you’ll want to sit in the “Living Room” patio area for a uniquely refreshing open-air dining experience. If your attention can afford to be elsewhere, the enormous bar seating area is stationed dead center with several large televisions perfectly positioned without any obstructions—because who said brunch can’t be for the boys?

2 | Bloodies, Margs + Mimosas

It truly isn’t a proper brunch without the usual suspects of official brunch-time libations. Luckily, Tavern House goes above the ordinary with their special “marys, margs and mosas,”’ all made fresh in-house. The folks behind Tavern House wanted to create a place to visit when celebrating something, so they definitely took the “+ Bar” portion of Tavern House seriously when developing their drink menu. Be sure to take special care with their tequila sunrise mimosa, consisting of tequila, sparkling wine, chambord, OJ and fresh fruit slices—it may be too much of a celebration, if there is such a thing!

Local Insight: What separates Tavern House Kitchen + Bar from other restaurants is the attention to detail their master mixologists have with each cocktail. Don’t be afraid to put their talents to the test with a top-notch toddy.

3 | This Is a Hit

We’ve done the research—Tavern House’s buttermilk fried chicken and malted waffles is just *chef’s kiss* everything you want in this dish and more. Skillfully breaded and fried to perfection, there’s just the right amount of juicy and crunchy in every bite. The addition of the malted waffles and thyme gravy makes this the ideal trio for a classic yet elevated brunch meal.

4 | Veggie-Friendly

The Tavern House menu isn’t limited to the meaty and cheesy brunch dishes you’re used to seeing elsewhere. While their brunch menu is quite Southern-inspired, they’ve still made sure to add a touch of the California coast to keep things local. A colorful medley of veggie-centric dishes that will satisfy even the most health-conscious folks is not to be overlooked. Dishes like the Avocado Toast Benny, Tavern Scramble or their featured Buddha Bowl with sriracha-spiced basmati rice, vegetables and goat cheese are just a few of the tasty green dishes ripe for picking.

5 | Go All In

Surely, The Bubba has an endearing story to why the dish is called that, but we speculate that it’s because you can’t help but mutter, “Oh, bubba…” when it’s brought to the table. This hearty heavyweight enters the ring with Tavern House’s signature fried chicken—which you can get Nashville hot style if you can handle the heat. Dog-piled between a freshly made buttermilk biscuit are two thick slices of pecan wood smoked bacon, an oozing sunny-side up egg, cheddar cheese, savory sausage gravy and a fresh buttermilk biscuit. It doesn’t get better than this, folks!
