The big event—the 34th annual Breeders’ Cup World Championships—is just around the corner! To get you ready for all the excitement at the track, check out the week-long series of events and activations leading up to the main shindig on Nov. 3 and 4 at the iconic Del Mar Racetrack!
Breakfast at Breeders’ Cup
From Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 at 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Stretch Run Grill West, enjoy some delicious grub while watching Breeders’ Cup Entrants as they prepare for the big race!
Native Knowledge: Enter through Solana Gate (Gate 4) off Via de la Valle, and attendants will tell you where to park. Enter through Stretch Run gates and head up the escalator to the second floor.
Bing Crosby Season
Named after the famous crooner, Hollywood icon and founder of the track, Bing Crosby season kicks off Nov. 1. Read on for some highlights:
-Start the festivities with the Opening Day Vintage Hollywood Fashion Contest. Don your Hollywood-inspired outfit to enter. Up to $3,000 in prizes will be given out to the winners of each category: Most Glamorous, Best Dressed Couple or Debonair Man, Best Celebrity Lookalike or Famous Character.
-For the musically inclined, Reggae Fest is back, featuring Iration on Nov. 18, as well as rock band The Offspring on Nov. 25.
-Foodies rejoice! The annual Fall Food Truck Festival will take place Nov.11, where over 20 food trucks will be serving up Insta-worthy eats in the seaside concert area.
-Do some good! On Nov. 19, bring in a new unwrapped toy to the track so you get receive free stretch run admission for the Del Mar Ride Benefitting Toys for Tots.
Breeders’ Cup
As Taylor Swift once said, “Are You Ready For It?” The 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, consisting of 13 Grade I races with purses and awards totaling more than $28 million, will be held Nov. 3 and 4. That Friday, the gates will open at 9 a.m. with races from 11:25 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. On Saturday, the gates will open at 8 a.m. with races from 10:10 a.m. to 5:35 p.m. See you there!
