Plant-Based Perfection House of Aama

We love the delicious food on the menu of Wose’s Baba Vegan Cafe. Everything on the menu is excellent, but we like the patties best. The patties are stuffed with a spicy soy mix, curried potatoes or a savory kale blend. Wose is mobile and can be found in Leimert Park on Sunday afternoons. Order ahead because he usually sells out!

Surf and Sand

We love Carbon Beach in Malibu for a quick unwind on the weekend. We usually go for a few hours to play in the water and lay out in the sun. The beach is in a residential area but can be accessed by a small pathway. The beach is clean and not overpopulated, and you can access the water readily and unwind for the rest of the day.

Dinner and a Show

Palms Thai Restaurant is also known as Thai Elvis due to a giant statue of Elvis located in the restaurant. Prior to COVID-19, the restaurant hosted a rotating crew of singers that belted out smooth pop classics from Journey, Barry Manilow and the Doobie Brothers. Although the singers are no longer on the scene, the Thai food is some of the best in town.

An Artifact-Filled Cafe

On Fairfax Blvd in an area designated as Little Ethiopia, lies the hidden gem Merkato Ethiopian Restaurant, which has been a family favorite for years. The food is delicious, and we especially like the veggie combo and whole trout fish. Honey wine is a welcome addition to the meal and is an Ethiopian speciality.

Word of Advice House of Aama

Ownership and self-expression are our favorite parts about owning House of Aama. Stay true to yourself, and don’t give up on your dreams. We started this as a hobby by upcycling vintage clothes and turned our hobby into a business. Stay open to learning about the business side of whatever field you are in, consulting with experts when necessary.
