Calling all fashionistas, in case you missed out on this year’s spring 2017 LA Fashion Week, I have a full recap of everything that went down last month. I will let you in on what designers made a debut, the ones who returned and what was hot on the runway. I will also let you in on what celebrities were in attendance. Let’s get started!
STYLE LAFW took place March 9-12. The fashion forward event was held at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. The venue’s main stage had a runway where designers showcased their upcoming collections.
This year’s show was innovative and culturally diverse. People from all walks of life were in attendance including celebrities like Britney Spears.
Day One began on March 9 with cocktails and a runway show that featured Malan Breton.
He presented his line of the “7 Deadly Sins” for his Fall/Winter Collection. The collection consisted of floral prints, and short and long dramatic pieces. Many of these gowns could be worn for brunch, a cocktail party, or a small get together with friends.
Day Two had multiple designers showcase their designs. Those designers included Commatteo, Shahida Parides, Moods of Norway, David Tupaz, Richard Hallmarq and Mario De La Torre. This particular day was an ode to women. With skin tight vinyl, spandex, hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail, and red lips.
Day Three was full of surprises with Disco Panda, Ydamys Simo, Eddie Eddie By Billy Tommy, Bijan Andre, and WANGLILING. It was the day of soft grunge. Lots of chains, mesh and metallics mixed with curly hair, feathers and pastels.
This day was my personal favorite because it’s easy to wear. Many of the pieces consisted of camouflage, black bandeaus, and chunky black boots and heels. It also gave off a downtown LA streetwear vibe.
The finale on Day Four showcased Cirque Du Soleil’s Zumanity, Thomas Wylde, Honee and Adrian Alicea. Overall, each day was a hit! Everyone had a chance to see upcoming designers while the designers had a chance to showcase all they had been working on. Cirque Du Soleil is always a hit with their acrobatic and whimsical acts that they put in.
