Take Your Taco Tuesday to the Next Level With Puesto’s Famous Tacos

2012 saw the creation of a new taqueria, one that goes by the name of Puesto. Starting as nothing more than a walk-up restaurant in La Jolla, Puesto quickly turned into a sit-down eatery. Since then, the restaurant expanded, opening additional locations in San Diego and two in Irvine—the most recent being their location at Park Place.
Puesto at Park Place offers guests an open, relaxed atmosphere with plenty of large tables that can easily accommodate a night out with friends and family. With Douglas fir timber, cool, grey stone and vivid artwork by Chor Boogie, guests will feel as though they have stepped into the heart of Mexico City.
It’s not just the decor that transports guests to below the border, but the drinks and food taste authentic as well. Start off your meal with a sip of one of Puesto’s crafted perfect margaritas, or opt for a sweet agua fresca or frozen horchata.
Before you dive into Puesto’s out-of-this-world tacos, it’s best to begin with a starter that will guarantee an unforgettable meal. Though Puesto has a number of options for appetizers, you can’t go wrong with guacamole. Try out the Nogada—a twist on guacamole with pomegranate arils, mango, chile de arbol and candied walnuts. These additions give the guacamole a spicy crunch that will leave you wanting more.
Now you’re ready to try one, or several, of Puesto’s unique tacos. Served on house-made, organic blue corn tortillas, any of these tacos will make your mouth water. Try their founder’s, Eric Adler, favorite Chicken al Pastor taco. Not only is it delicious, but according to Adler, “It is what made us start Puesto.”
Not a meat-eater? Puesto also has a delicious Zucchini & Cactus Taco as well! Whatever you choose, be sure to finish your dinner with a piña colada carrot cake or tres leches by pastry chef and recent “Dessert Games” winner Jessica Scott.
With more stores opening, taco lovers up and down the coast will soon be able to consume Puesto. “We’re going to open in Santa Clara hopefully in the spring,” Adler said, “And we’re actually going to open in Concord up in the Bay Area.”
